Chapter 2- Good to see you too
She smiled, tears rolling down her face, then ran and hugged me. She hugged me so tightly that I feared my already weak body would snap from the effort.
"O-Ow."
"Sorry.."
She let go only to hug me again, gentler this time.
"I thought you were dead."
"Ash... Ash what happened?" I put my hand on her cheek, and she let go, looking at me in the eyes.
"Y-you don't remember?"
"Its all fuzzy."
She was quiet for a moment.
"There were these demons.. and they stabbed you in the heart.. and I had to save you."
The memories rushed back, but a few details were still missing.
"Oh."
"Also, excuse me for a moment..." She took my hand from her face, smiling, then opened her mouth.
Next thing I knew I was being yelled at.
"WHY DID YOU GO INTO A FIGHT YOU COULDN'T WIN YOU PIG FACED, BUTT HEADED, ASSHOLE! YOU SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH I THOUGHT YOU HAD DIED! WHAT WERE YOU DOING YOU LITTLE-"
I calmly let her lecture me as her insults and fears rushed out at me. She yelled louder and louder until I feared my ears would burst. But I let her. I knew I deserved it. Her insults got worse and worse until she switched to saying profanities in every sentence. Finally, when she paused to breathe, I pulled her in and kissed her.
The scent of strawberries blossomed on my tongue, and I held her close. Just like that, the stream of insults died down to silence. She kissed me back, and as I pulled away I saw she had trouble staying mad.
"Your...I mean... You..."
"I missed you too."
She sighed, giving up on her lecture.
"Next time you do something like that I will throw you into the sun."
I grinned.
"Well, next time I do that I'll-"
My voice died in my throat as I looked down at my chest. There was a large, ropy, silvery scar on my chest. It was very deep and right over my heart. I touched it softly, all traces of joy gone.
"I..."
"You were lucky you lived. I know nothing about angel anatomy, but I did the best I could. You had like 13 broken ribs, stabbed tendons in the hands, and your heart..."
She shook her head and continued.
"I know nothing about what to do with your heart."
"But I'm alive...?"
"Somehow. I know angels can heal pretty quickly but I still didn't know whether you would make it or not."
I suddenly felt dizzy, like my world was crashing around me. By all rights I should be dead right now, and yet I'm not. I remember the half dream I was in, with my dad...
'You are my Legacy.'
"Solus? Solus are you ok? You look pale."
And that was when I passed out.
