Chapter 10- Coward
I crouched, ready to defend at any moment. Alex's whip and knife glistened evilly in the sunlight. I knew he was a better fighter then me. I didn't like where this was going."Angel, we're not after you. You may go without a fight."
"Are you kidding me demon dude?? No! I put too much effort into kidnapping snowflake here. I'm not about to let him go."
"Wait.. you kidnapped me?"
"Sort of."
Alex interrupted.
"Enough. You made your choice. And I'm in no mood to chat right now."
At that a small flash of white light appeared, and with it a large metal spear. It appeared in her hand. She spun it around her in a impressive display of skill, then settled into a ready crouch, her wings flared out on either side. She looked intimidating to say the least, and the most beautiful girl to me. I shook my head again, trying to dispel the thought unsuccessfully.
Alex shot his whip towards her as she jumped towards him. I was about to help but I heard a slither of a blade being unsheathed. I turned to Scar.
"Its just you and me, 'Brother'"
She used the word brother as something bad. I narrowed my eyes, feeling hurt and upset.
"Tell me, Azriel.... Why did you betray us? You had the whole world at your fingertips. Yet you chose to leave and make everything more difficult. You didn't help us at the fight either."
"I wasn't at the-"
"Don't lie to me. I saw you perched up there, watching us as we killed Solus. I'm surprised you did nothing. What would your friends think if they learned you WATCHED as Solus was dealt the fatal blow, hm? They wouldn't be very happy I'm sure. Your a coward, Azriel. You run when you can make a difference. You run from fights cause you know your too weak to do anything. Am I wrong?"
My tail moved from side to side. That struck me deep in my core. Each word was very specific, feeding off of my own guilt and fears. I knew she was right, and I had no words against it. Finally, I lowered my knife.
"I am no coward..." I mumbled.
"Then prove it."
She lunged towards me, blade flashing. I dodged to the side, keeping my distance as best as I could. I deflected whenever her katana got close. She laughed at me.
"Look at you! Prancing like a dancing drunk. Fight me like a man."
And with that she stabbed forward. I slipped to the side, narrowly dodging. While I was distracted she kicked me down. I felt so weak compared to her. I knew she had more power then me, and more strength.
"Let this be a lesson to any more traitors."
She stabbed downward, and I shut my eyes tightly. I raised my arms to deflect the stab, though I knew it wouldn't do anything.
But it never came.
I peeked open my eye to see the blade stop a inch away from my arms. Strange black magic pulsed against the tip, pushing it away from me. I saw the shocked look on Scars face.
"How...? You shouldn't have th-"
I kicked her as hard as I could in the stomach, knocking her away. I looked down at my hands, shaky and confused. They looked just as normal as ever. I got up, still trying to process what happened.
This shouldn't happen.
