The Happiness Project (An Axl Heck Fanfic)

The Happiness Project (An Axl Heck Fanfic)

Axl. One of the most, if not the most, popular person in his school. Loved by everyone, and good at everything. Plays football, and is an aspiring athlete. Victoria. One of the most unpopular people in the school, and unable to talk at school due to her disorder. Trying to get through life at her awful school, where she learns nothing. The two of them couldn't be more different. But when they are forced to be partners for a school project, they get to know each other and learn to work together. But when they find they have feelings for each other, they begin to focus less on their schoolwork, and more on another project. One that is proving to be even more difficult than anything at school. A project on happiness.

Chapter 4

I didn't know why I said that. But I felt as if I had to go, because if I didn't, he might hate me. And I definitely didn't want that, because then the project would become even harder. Also, even though I didn't want to admit it, another reason why I didn't want him to hate me was because he really was handsome. If he did turn out to be a somewhat decent person, I wouldn't want him to dislike me.

"Here's my address. You can wait for me outside the school gates after our last lesson." Axl said.

He took a scrap of paper from his pocket and scribbled down a house number and a street name onto it. Then he handed it to me, and I put it in my pocket.

"I hope you'll be there. Oh, and when you're at my house, if you see two dorks walking around, that's my sister and my brother. You might see my parents too, but they probably won't bother us that much." he informed me.

I nodded, regretting the decision I had made even more.

"And if working quickly is that easy, can you teach me?" Axl asked.

I was surprised. He was actually impressed by something that I had done, and he wanted me to teach him how to do it. Nobody had ever really been impressed with me before, except teachers every once in a while.

Maybe he wasn't actually impressed, and he was just saying it to make fun of me. But for some reason, it actually kind of made me feel good about myself.

"Okay." I told him.

For the remainder of the lesson, Axl actually helped me with our project. By the end of the lesson, we had decided that our brochure would be for a holiday on a tropical island, and we were beginning to plan what we were going to do. Then the bell went, and it was time for the second lesson of the day.

"So, I guess I'll see you tonight, Victoria." he said to me, as we left the classroom.

As he said this, I realised once again how beautiful his eyes were, and I felt my stomach flip as I opened my mouth to talk again. I was doing okay, really, for someone that couldn't speak at school and was very unpopular.

"Yeah." I answered quietly.

"Bye, Victoria." he said, before disappearing down the corridor that led to his PSHE classroom, where his next lesson was.

"Bye, Axl." I whispered back, but he had already left.

I sighed, and I made my way to my ICT classroom for my second lesson.
