Chapter 1
It was an ordinary Monday morning. Or so that's what I thought when I walked into school. Everything seemed normal at first. Nothing out of place. That is, until he came.
I walked into the classroom and sat in my seat. I sit by myself. I hardly have any friends, but it doesn't bother me. I've learned to cope with it. It gets a bit lonely, though, and sometimes I wish I had someone to talk to.
Then the teacher walks over to the front of the classroom, and clears his throat.
"Class, we have a new student with us today. This is Mica." he announced.
I look up at the front. There stands a boy. He was tall, with olive skin and chocolate-coloured curls. His eyes matched the colour of his hair.
Gosh, he was cute. Very cute.
I saw that he had accessorized his school uniform with a black bowler hat, a sparkly necklace and a few rainbow bracelets.
I thought he was very unique and interesting, but unfortunately the rest of the class didn't seem to like it very much.
"Who does he think he is?" I heard the girl sat near me whisper.
"He's so weird." a boy commented.
"Right, well, we'd better find you a place to sit." the teacher told Mica.
I looked around. There was an empty seat next to me. Nobody had sat there for years. I wanted Mica to sit there, but the teacher would probably put him over on the other side of the room with all the others. I hate most kids my own age. I seem to be the only one who actually grew up. Everyone else is just so uncultured and immature.
But Mica. . .there was something about him. He was different.
"Why don't you go and sit with Victoria over there?" the teacher said.
I was shocked. He was actually going to sit next to me. Maybe if I try, he would like me. . .
Oh, who am I kidding? I'm a terribly shy loner, and everyone hates me. Someone as amazing as him would never love me. I don't deserve him.
Mica walked across the room nervously. Everyone stared at him as if they were judging him. He gave me a small smile, then sat in his seat.
I looked at him. He was staring off into space, as if in deep thought. I wondered what he was thinking about.
Then the teacher clapped his hands.
"Okay, so, let's try and make Mica feel welcome." he said.
I just sat there.
