Starlight and Rune 4

The sky was dark filled with shining stars, much like the ones of Starlight’s underwings. She was slowly padding along next to her sister when she yawned, “I think we better find a place to rest, were running out of time before dawn.”
Her feet practically tripped over herself as she stumbled and finally fell. Rune caught her supporting the midnight purple dragon on her back, “Alright, fine!” she grumbled hauling Starlight to a huge oak. She shoved her sister into the hollow where she was comforted by leaves and bracken. Rune herself layed next to her sister exhausted, she curled up tight and closed her amber eyes.
But sleep did not come easily. Nightmares caused her to quake in fear, as she saw terrible things…

The Corruptor flapped his massive wings as he hovered above them. The landscape behind him was barren and black, like the earth had been corrupted itself. “Hahaha!” he bellowed, “So the prophecy sisters have failed, it seems! Nothing can stop me!” He howled with laughter. Rune wanted to move, to say something, but it was as if she was frozen, rooted in place. The Corruptor swooped down and landed in front of Starlight. In one swift movement, he bit Starlight’s neck. She collapsed, writhing and gasping in pain. The blackness spread across her scales, her wings ripping and tearing. The Corruptor then turned to look at Rune. “Now it’s your turn,” he said, pouncing forward.

Dreams were not going well for Starlight either.

Starlight dashed along with the potion in her mouth. Dark dragons charged after her. Her breathing became heavy and her legs grew weary, but she could not stop running. A black tide rushed at her, over taking her. Her blue paw soaked, the poison up to her chest, up to her neck, choking, drowning her…
Both sisters woke up simultaneously, gasping in fear. Sparrows chirped to the morning sun. Starlight asked, “Bad dream?” Rune nodded. And on that note, they set out again.
