Starlight and Rune 2

The hidden clearing where Rune and Starlight had been tiptoeing around silently was filled with moon beams. The two she-dragonets had been gathering supplies and enchanting them when a piercing scream echoed throughout the walls of the cave. Starlight sat up abruptly cocking her head towards the sound. Rune’s eyes were filled with alarm, “What was that?!?” they whispered in dismay. A spark flickered from the cauldron and Starlight spun around, hissing,
“I don’t know. But I am almost done. Sage, please.” She held out her talons. Rune set some green leaves into her paw. The potion, previously a dark indigo, faded into a soft, nearly white violet. Rune dared to ask, ”Is...Is it finished?”  Starlight scrunched up her nose, replying, “Nearly. All we need is a single shadowberry.” She turned to grab one. But there were no berries there. The dragonets gasped. Rune whispered, “I”ll go get some.” “No, Wait!” Starlight began to say, but Rune’s   dark gray tail had already whisked into the forest.
Rune ran through the forest, trying to spot the inky berries with the crimson leaves that they so desperately needed. Her talons flew across the ground. Then she came to an abrupt halt. Another clearing was before her. And there she saw an atrocious sight. The Corruptor himself. He stood before a corrupted dragonet. She was older than Rune herself, who did a double take. The dragon, with the black and red scales of any dragon taken, poisoned, corrupted, looked unbelievingly like the princess of the Ember Empire! Except this drakaina had four legs…
Rune barely stifled a gasp when she realized what had happened at the scene before her. The Corruptor had most likely tricked Princess Cupid into drinking from the black bottle, which lay before her. It had been filled with corrupting venom. Rune had to tell Starlight! This was bad! But as she moved, her wings brushed some fronds. Time slowed. The dragons nearby turned and saw her. Then they burst after her. Rune had no choice but to run. If they caught her, if they bit her, poisoning her, corrupting her, that was it. The prophecy would remain unfulfilled.  They would fail. The world would fall to shadows.
