A summer crash
A Summer CrashI was visiting my grandmother’s house one summer when I was around eight years old and I decide to ride the purple bike that was in the garage. I feel the smooth handles of the bike as i grip them firmly to take off. I quickly start peddling as fast as i can. I could here my little sister screaming my name as I race across the driveway. I can feel the cool wind blowing on my face as I go up the hill. I quickly ride through the rigid, grassy area to make a u-turn towards the house. i suddenly lose control of the bike and am unable to stop. The bike slows to where the front tire is hanging over the edge of the rocky creek in the yard. i am able to hold myself there with my feet since the brakes wouldn’t help. Just moments before attempting to get off , the bike goes down the rocky side of the creek. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest as i am bumping along the bank , i hit the little amount of water in the creek and i am quickly flung off the bike and hit the dry reeds on the other side. I climb up the bank into the grass and make a self examination to make sure i was not seriously injured. I can see my sister running for my dad and that is when i get nervous.
what is he going to say when he sees me covered in mud? what is he going to do?
I walk up to my dad and he takes a good look at me. I can already feel the yells coming. He suddenly starts laughing uncontrollably. I couldn’t believe it. We walk inside and i shower and rest of change and my uncle came over. We end up laughing about the incident for the day, except my mom, who said i could have died. This experience has taught many things through the years as i replay the memory in my mind over and over again. That is when i realized it is okay to make mistakes and get dirty sometimes. Because it happens to everyone. that is why this memory is very meaningful in my life. It has told me this many times and it will keep telling me this over and over.
