Jealosy
(This is Libby)I splashed water around as Coraline continued reading her book. Pounding footsteps made us both look up to see Tracy racing towards us, out of breath. I rose to meet her as she slowed and walked the last few steps to us. She leaned over the fountain panting. Caroline, looked uneasily over at her, but otherwise ignored her. Tracy stared at Coraline, then at me.
"So, what did you want to show me?" I asked, trying to distract her from Coraline. She snapped out of her trance.
"Oh yeah, uh..." she indicated with her eyes at Coraline, trying to be discreet, but I guess she saw anyway.
"Yeah, it's fine. I'll leave now." She grabbed her book and walked towards the bench on the other side of the strip of grass. I wanted to call her back, but decided not to.
"I know you're new," Tracy's voice made my head turn back to her. "So I just wanted to show you something cool about this place. I'm not sure a lot of other students know this, so consider yourself lucky." She grinned and I smiled back. We rounded the corner of the school building and found ourselves in a narrow...well, sort of garden. Vines crawled along the walls, lavender bushes stood like guards beside the fence, and a weeping willow cascaded over the entire space between the wall and barrier. There was barely enough room for the two of us to stand side by side. Tracy picked her way through the bushes, beckoning me to follow her. I did, tripping over several roots and cursing under my breath, wondering if the gardeners ever even looked over here. Tracy had stopped and moved aside the thin, flexible branches of the willow, revealing a small door, which was green with the paint chipping off. I traced my finger along the door, then looked at my finger and blew off the dust and pale emerald flakes. Tracy creaked open the door and was ready to walk in, but for some reason quickly backed out and pressed herself to the wall, eyes widened in surprise and horror. I opened my mouth but she put her finger up to her lips and peeked into the room again. I crouched down and nosed my way into the gap between Tracy's legs and the doorframe. I couldn't believe what i was seeing.
Aidan, yes, AIDAN (I wouldn't mistaken that creamy black hair anywhere) was... KISSING ANOTHER GIRL! Aidan had his back to me, but I could see a sliver of the girl's face. Her eyes were closed.
"Who is THAT?!" I hissed at Tracy. She shook her head and looked at me with sympathy in her eyes. I looked back into the room and saw the girl's eyes fly open. She stared at us in surprise, then narrowed her them, as if she were mocking us. I pressed myself against the wall, and when I dared another peek, they had moved into shadow and I couldn't see anything else. Tracy nudged my shoulder. I turned around and she beckoned me with her head, then took off. I tore after her, wincing as a twig snapped under my foot. Tracy seemed to be ignoring the loud crunching of the leaves she stepped on, and just kept running. I followed the rhythmic pounding of her feet. We stopped only when we reached the fountain. I glanced at the bench where Coraline had sat, but she had already left. I turned to face Tracy.
"Who was that?" I gasped. She shook her head and gulped air.
"That was Libby. Someone you do NOT want to meet."
