~Richard~ 6
I had been walking all night. Ok, I lied, I had stopped walking to sleep then started walking again when the sun came up. I needed breakfast.A dingy black car drove past me in the direction I was headed; away from camp. After a few more minutes of wondering what I was doing, I came across a girl laying on the side of the road sleeping. Ummm? You didn't see that every day. I walked up to her and shook her, and she woke up quickly. She got up and studied my face, like she might be able to recognize me.
"What are you doing out here? With no one?" I asked. Maybe, just maybe, she was a demigod. I was also just curious.
"I ..." Her voice cracked. She couldn't be over twelve, "I heard my parents talking about how they didn't want me, or how they couldn't keep me. I ran away." I noticed that she was fidgeting a lot. ADHD? I resisted the urge to swipe the bracelet she had on.
"Oh." Then I went into a huge long explanation about the camp and all that weird shizzle-wizzle that comes with it. Then I told her I thought she was a demigod and she laughed.
"Yeah, sure. Take me to this mystical 'Camp Hal-Blood' you speak of." She joked.
"Ok, I will." I said and grabbed her hand. It was hard to keep my fingers from the bracelet.
"Who are you?" She asked after a little while. I smiled.
"Richard Stellar, son of Hermes, god of thieves." She let go of my hand and felt her bracelet. I laughed at her caution, "Don't worry. I don't like to steal stuff." I paused, "That sentence would disgust my siblings." We both laughed.
Soon we made it to camp, and we marched down the hill where I led her into the big house. Chiron looked surprised to see me.
"Who is this?" He asked. I turned to the girl, realizing that I didn't really know anything about her. I had to admit that I could be a little selfish sometimes. Common flaw of Hermes' kids.
"Samantha. Onowa." She answered carefully, "I hate my last name."
"Do you have any idea who your godly parent is?" Chiron asked, after I told him how I told her about camp. She shook her head.
"Ah, well." Chiron sighed, "We will most likely find out at dinner tonight. Richard, please, get her a camp shirt. We don't need two new demigods in one day for people to look at. She'll be less of a sore thumb if she's dressed right." He sent me out with her, asking to give her a tour. I didn't know what that centaur did all day.
The tour went quickly, faster than usual. Samantha was so full of energy that she made me feel more awake. I wondered who her godly parent was.
