Phone guy is the marionette/hide and seek theory.
I know most of you think FNAF 2 is a prequel well let me explain this sort of. In FNAF 2 when you start the game you get those weird visions where you see through Freddy's eyes and each time the cutscene is different. I'm sort of following off Smike's theory. Why do you see the puppet in those cutscenes on night 4? Well let me explain. If you've played FNAF 1 you know phone guy "disappears". I say disappears because its not clear weither he died or not. What if the phone guy is the puppet. Sure he's a kid spirit but if we assume that the puppet has a voice box it wouldn't be to far of a stretch to make himself sound like a male. Just think about it, the phone guy knows the dangers and remains calm not even trying to warn you of the terrible fate that awaits you if you run out of power. Although I think since we all know that the puppet is a murdered kid and so are the other animatronics that they think this is all a game. Which brings me to my next part in this chapter.Yes we're all aware of how you play hide and seek. Now I think that its no secret that in FNAF 1 you "hide" behind doors and in FNAF 2 you "hide" behind a mask or flash your light if its Foxy. Since we can assume that most of the animatronics in FNAF 2 are possessed and FNAF 1 certainly all the animatronics are that they think this is all a game. If we can assume that the animatronics inheritated the personalities of the kids that were stuffed into them that would explain how they play the "game". Chica and Bonnie are probably not as good as the game, Foxy is the most competitive but not the best either, Freddy is probably the best, and Golden Freddy is like me irl we both don't want to play unless you make us. I don't think that the killer had the kids play hide and seek to kill them because it'd be easier to kill five victims if they were all in the same room.
