Chapter 1
Kyra was walking back from school. dark clouds had covered the sun and every little blue patch in the sky, it had started to rain softly. Thunder boomed overhead and the 13 year old girl began to run down the sidewalk just as it started to pour. Kyra ran to a little blue house on a dirt road. it looked about to fall over, creaking in the harsh wind. She walked up the sidewalk and opened the door to the eerily empty house. She shook water out of her hair and took off her shoes. "anyone home?" Kyra said to no one. she sighed and put her backpack on the table and sat down on the couch still dripping wet.Kyra reached for a book on the table and started to read, in no time she was done. setting it down she peeked out the window to see it had stopped raining. Her dad walked up to the house from the car. Kyra scrambled to cover the wet spot on the couch with a blanket and ran to get her homework out of her backpack. she just set it on the table and sat down with a pencil when her dad opened the door. Kyra pretended to be working on her homework while her dad set his stuff down on the table, a suitcase and a long pole with ribbon wrapped around it. "watch this while i get your mother" he said in his gravelly voice. Kyra nods and her dad slammed the door behind him as he went back to the car. Kyra watched him go around the corner and let out a sigh of relief.
she turned to the strange pole and picked it up. another pole fell out and almost hit her foot. Kyra picked that up as well, she held them in her hands to study them just as her father opened the door again, he had come back for the spare tire since one of his went flat halfway there. Kyra quickly set them down, her father looked like he was about to explode. "dont touch my stuff, you hear me!?" he yelled in anger and slapped Kyra, she nodded and stumbled back. Kyra ran to her room and closed the door, locking it.
