Hopeless ?

Land Restored

Ten years had passed since the end of the Dark Day Wars.
The man leaned back into his chair and closed his eyes as he enjoyed the cool wind blowing through the hot summer day.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up into his wife's eyes and smiled, it had been ten years and he had done well in that time. He now had a home, a wife, and three young children who were growing fast and exploring new things day by day.
He had found a secluded place to call home surrounded by mountains, ripe with trees of all kinds, and access to water this was a paradise, no heaven to him.
Ten years since all of his hard fought battles were rewarded, he remembered it like yesterday..........

"The hoards are retreating, their running. We've WON!"
Everyone present yelled in excitement at the news, for the past week they had been holding out against the darkness and now they had finally overcome evil. One last charge took place as they rode out on their steeds overrunning and trampling the fleeing creatures as they tried to escape the stampeding knights, none of the foul creatures were spared and those who escaped would think twice before EVER attacking the human way of life ever again. As the victors cheers rose into the air a surge of lightning flashed across the sky, shortly followed by a clap of thunder, soon it began to rain.
As the water fell down to earth it began to wash away the blood and grim and soot from the lands as it began to restore the land and heal its scars. As water ran down the knights armor he laughed and removed his helmet letting it fall to the ground as he lifted his head and felt the rain on his face, when he looked down he saw a small patch of green grass that had survived the toils of war and now was wet form the moister as it started to restore the plants life.

"Even through adversity, hardships, dangers, and being alone we have survived. Now we can begin anew with a fresh start in life, free to do what we can with the time we have left" thought the knight as he pulled his steed towards the south-west and took off to find a new life........a better life then the one he had known.
