Live to Fight Another Day

Live to Fight Another Day The knight had never seen a Shade before, they were supposed to be only tales to frighten children into going to bed.
But this creature was before him now and it was VERY real and dangerous, trying to remember what else the stories said he sought an answer as to how to defeat this evil being, he was going to have to think outside the box.
Battling a being of shadows is not an easy thing, it turns solid to strike you and dissolves when you strike at it.
The knight was starting to tire as the battle raged, unlike the Shade who would never tire as it was already an undead being.
Only able to block the knight purely on the defensive, as they moved about the town square battling steel against shadow and sorcery.
Then the knight got a thought a wild maybe crazily stupid thought, but it might work.
Looking around he spotted a large overturned barrel that lay just under a bunch of fallen wood and rubble.
Running his way over there he could hear the cackling laughter of the Shade as it thought that its prey was fleeing, but the knight had other plans. Ramming his blade into the barrel he lifted his sword up until the barrel burst open leaking a white substance out, letting it flow over his blade he turned and blocked just in time as the Shade struck at him again from behind.
The knight let a bit more liquid run over his blade before moving away from the rubble and closer to where the fires raged.
He heard it again the whistling sound as the Shade moved towards him, the knight waited until it got closer, closer, closer, as so as the Shade was a mere four feet away inclosing fast the knight did a roundhouse with his sword weaving it through the angry flames that licked at his sword hungrily and igniting the alcohol as the sword slashed into the living Shadows of the Shade.
The Shade lit up like a pillar of flame and screamed as it disintegrated into the air leaving a pile of ashes on the ground where it had been.
The knight quickly put out the fire on his sword and then sheathed it back into its position at his side.
None had survived the attack of the Shade and whatever else there might have been.
