Chapter 6: The make-over

I woke up early the next morning, hoping to have time to put myself together before Greyson got here. I got out of bed and checked the clock. 8:36, it said. I felt my phone buzz, which it strange since I never get texts, and I grabbed it off of my desk. It was from Greyson. I gave him my number last night, just in case. The text said:
Greyson: Hey! we start at 10:00. Is that good for you? :)

I replied: Avalon;): Yeah, that sounds good! So... what are you gonna do to me? :/

Greyson: The surprise is half the fun ;)

I turned my phone off and left my room, and out to the hallway bathroom. But, it was locked, because my dad was re-doing it, so all of my shower stuff was lying in a corner in the hallway. I grabbed my shampoo, body wash, and face wash. I went to my mom master bedroom and found something disturbing in the shower. A gerbil sized hairball clogging the drain. Eww!
I nearly gagged a few times in the process of trying to release the hair from the drain. When it was finally free, I instantly dropped it in a trash can with a PLOP! Yuck!

Mid-shower, I realized that I had forgotten my lufa. Shoot...

I jumped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body and scurried out of the bathroom and out of my mom's room, and into the hallway. I scanned the pile of bathroom supplies and finally grabbed my lufa. And then I saw something. Uh-oh...
"Whatcha doin'?" Greyson said, and I let out a little yelp that made him smile. "What are you doing here? It's only... like, 8: 48! We don't start for more than an hour!" I said trying not to laugh. "Sorry, I just... wanted to ask you something, and you weren't in your room, so I came looking for you... and... here you are! Wet and naked!" He said with a chuckle.
I laughed, too, "What do you wanna ask me? Say it quickly, the water is still running!" I told him.
"Am I allowed to cut your hair?"
"What?! No!"
"Aw, C'mon!"
"Maybe. Now go home. See you at 10!"

Then I left and got back in the shower. After my shower, I washed my face and dried off. Then I got dressed. By the, it was 9:45.

Now it was 10:00. I can't decide if I'm nervous or excited.

"Hey!" Greyson exclaimed as he slid into my window. "Hey!" I said back. "So, are you ready to fix me up?" I said giggling. "Why, yes I am. Have a seat." He said gesturing toward my swivel chair. I took a seat.
First, he took my hair out of it's bun and began to brush it. It felt so good having him brush my hair. He never hurt me once. "Now that your hair is brushed, it is time for the clothes. I brought some of my older sister's clothes, but don't worry, this is just for now. You'll get your own clothes soon. Okay," He grabbed the clothes and turned around for me to change, "Hayden likes popular girls. The only way to make you popular is to make you look the part. I will re-invent you, basically so that people will go 'Who is that? I've never seen her before. Where'd she get that skirt?', and stuff like that. Got it?" He said. I nodded and he turned around. "You look great! Now, makeup time! I know what I'm doing, so trust me. I am gonna teach you how." He told me.
"Alright, I brought my sister's makeup. The first thing you want you do is foundation. I would use powder foundation, if I were you. You wanna put a little extra on your cheeks, so you have a base for your blush." He put on my foundation while saying that.
"Next, do your eye shadow. It is very crucial that you don't put on your blush next, because when you put on blush, you brush off any eye shadow fallout, okay? So, you put on your eye shadow. And when you do, don't put white in the corners. It makes your eyes look farther apart. Also, don't start by putting it in the corners, Start in the middle and work your way in and out. Because it always fans out when you first start, and you don't want it all fanned out in the corners, 'cause then it'll be on your nose. And, trust me, you don't want it on your nose." And he finishes one eye and I give him an impressed/confused face. "My sister taught me last night, cause I told her I was helping you. Now you try on your other eye," He told me. I reached for the foam tip applicator. "No, no, no. those give you wrinkles from pulling on the skin. Use a brush." He tells me, handing me a brush.
After I finished my eye, he says, "Good, but, if you put a darker color in your crease, you need to blend it together in circular motions," He blends it for me and it looks much better. "Next is your blush..." He applies blush and then explains that I should wear dark brown, not black, eye liner on only the bottom, liquid liner on top, and wear mascara on all of my lashes. "Finally, lipstick."

When he was done with makeup, he began to cut my hair. He just evened the ends out, layered it, and gave me side bangs. Then, he put my hair in a fishtail braid. He closed my closet door revealing the full body mirror. "What do you think?" He asked. I gasped and examined myself head to toe. "I think... I think I look great, it's just that, this takes way too much effort and time." I answered. "It took longer than usual because I was explaining everything. It would normally take about 10 minutes tops." He told me. "Well you did a great job. Thank you!" I gave him a huge hug. "And now, we go shopping! I will pay for it all, don't worry." He said.
"There is no way I am letting you pay for it all. I pay half." I demanded. "You pay for 25%. That is it. Now let's go!" He said. I rolled my eyes as he grabbed my wrist and pulled me downstairs. We were laughing when my mom walked inside. "Who is this?" she asked gesturing to Greyson. "Mom, this is-" I started. "And who is this!?" My mom exclaimed examining my makeover. "This is not the Avalon I knew!" She had a smile spread across her face and I rolled my eyes while also smiling. "Sorry, you just look so pretty! Why are you dressed up?" She asked. "Just 'cause..." I told her. Her eyes flicker back over to Greyson. "This is-" I tried to explain. "I am Greyson. Nice to meet you, I am your new neighbor, and Avalon's friend." He said, throwing a prize winning grin to her. She shook his hand and smiled approvingly. "So what are you kids up to?" She asked.
"We are going shopping, because I have decided to speak up this year and dress nicer." I said. She nodded. "Have fun! Be back by 7:00!" She called as she went into the kitchen.
"Shall we?" Greyson asked. I giggled," We shall!" We hooked arms and walked to his truck. "Nice truck!" I told him. "Thanks. I actually got this when I lived in Georgia." He informed me. We climbed in and he turned on the radio, and 'Parking Lot Party' by Lee Brice came on. I turned it up and sang along. "Ain't no party like the pre- party and after the party's the after party at the parking lot party!" I laughed. "So, you like country?" Greyson asked. "Love it. You?" I glanced over to him. "Uh... me too. I just don't tell a lot of people." He replied. I nodded. "Alright. I get it." I said. "AT THE PARKING LOT PARTY!" Greyson screamed over the radio. "No! You're killing it! Stop, You are killing it!" I laughed and yelled. He shook his head and continued to sing. I mean scream, while I laughed. This is gonna be a good day. And I know I'm right about it this time.
