Backstory: born a ghoul with her sister, she is a special class ghoul but she is ashamed for being the way she is. When she and her sister found kaneki she felt bad about her sister almost killing him and became devastated when her sister died but became part of kaneki. Afraid that she'd technically be with her sister, she kept her distance from kaneki despite how much it hurt her heart.
