Where I'm From

I am from cameras,
From Polaroid, and home videos.
I am from the huge hall with giant wooden double doors.
(Towering, soaring,
it looks like a castle.)
I am from the clouds in the big blue sky,
the snowflakes that fall
fragile
melting so quickly on my face.

I am from fights and loudness
        from Scarlet and Dreyar

I am from the roaring
and shouting of my siblings
From I’m All Fired Up! And It’s an Eternal Mystery!

I am from pointing to the sky,
fairy-hunting
and only rarely seeing the oldest.

I'm from Magnolia and Tenrou,
sandwiches and beer.

From the spiky pink hair of the flame-head whose voice
can permeate the most soundproof of buildings,
the short stature of the family’s head who is the nicest person
until you mess with his children.

I am from the family hall
and the library of nicknacks. Drawings and books,
ladders and shelves,

echoes of battles
telling the stories
of the ones whose pasts
are all but forgotten.
