Growing Up
It's been years later, and Bonnie was getting older. Stanley was almost a full adult bird, and Bonnie was too. Bonnie lept into the sky to hunt for some food. When she spotted a deer, she dove. It tried to run, but her claws grasped it's body tightly. She killed it with a swift peck to the throat, and twisting it's spine with her talons. She soared back to the nest with Stanley and Terror Claw. Then she was reminded of the day. The day when Terror Claw would stop grooming them. The day Terror Claw would stop feeding them. Bonnie had just learned this two days ago, so she got lucky to get such a fast kill. "Nice catch.", Terror Claw said. "Thank you, Terror Claw", Bonnie replied.Stanley was coming back now, too. With three squirrels and a rabbit. She was staring into the open, watching as the sun began to set. Tomorrow would be a big day for she and Stanley. That day, they were leaving the nest. Bonnie felt grief begin to rise up in her belly and through her body. She would miss Terror Claw. He had raised her, fed her, taught her, and had fun with her. Bonnie didn't sleep well that night. And when she did, she had nightmares of being attacked by enemy birds and getting chased by lions. She woke with a start, and found it to be 12:00 AM. It was the middle of the day! How long had she slept? Terror Claw was gone, and Stanley was already awake, grooming his feathers. "Good afternoon, Bonnie!", Stanley said. "Good afternoon..", Bonnie mumbled. She was still exhausted, and she remembered what would happen that day.
Bonnie shook her head in frustration, then saw Terror Claw flying back. He didn't look happy either. In fact, he looked rather sad. He looked like he had lost something important to him. "Bonnie. Stanley.", Terror Claw said, sounding more confident then he looked. "It's time to go." This time he seemed much, much more depressed. "Why?", Bonnie and Stanley said at the same time, sadness rushing through them. "Because you are adult birds now. You can take care of yourselves.", Terror Claw rasped, then his head began to droop. "Dad..", Bonnie began. Then she continued: "If you don't want us to leave, why should we? We all want to stay, right?", Bonnie begged her foster father. Terror Claw shook his head, "It's the bird nature, Bonnie. This happens to every bird. This is normal. You'll see me again! You can visit me, right?", Terror Claw tempted. Bonnie realized he was right, and Stanley seemed to, also. They said they're goodbyes and went off.
