Making The Choice (Part 3)
Alexis______
Okay, so as far as I know, all the Erudite, Dauntless and Candor have chosen. Half the Amity has. Abnegation still have to choose. But they don't choose until all the Amity have chosen.
And I'm still waiting for my turn.
My friend Leat has transferred to Dauntless. No surprise there. She's always been blabbering on to me that she wanted some excitement. Guess there wasn't enough of it in Amity for her.
Now I don't know about you, but my Test yesterday REALLY creeped me out. It told me my faction is Amity.
But I don't want to be Amity. So I say forget the test. It's my choice.
And I know where I'm gonna go.
So that man BETTER hurry up and say my name!
"Alexis."
THANK YOU!
I walk up to the stage, and he offers the knife to me. Looking at the bowls, there's only one that catches my eye. The sizzling coals of the Dauntless bowl. I know some of you are thinking 'Why is she looking at Dauntless and not Amity?' I told you this already. I don't want to be Amity!
I want to be loud, and daring! And only Dauntless can give me that life.
So as I slit my wrist, I walk to in front of the Dauntless bowl, and I wait for enough blood to surface to my hand. When it does, I twist my hand and let my blood fall. I hear the sizzling sound as the coals burn my blood.
"Dauntless."

"And finally, we come to the turn of our Abnegation dependents."
Now that the other four factions have chosen, it's my turn to choose.
My three choices are Abnegation, Dauntless, and Erudite.
"Elspeth."
My sister Elspeth is about to choose her faction. She seems confident in her decision.
So I watch as she walks to the podium, slits her wrist with the knife, and walks to the bowls.
We all wait for her blood to fall.
"Erudite."
NO!
My sister chose the faction that despises our birth faction!
I have to be the one to stay!
I have to!
"Jackie."
I must be the one who stays with the family.
But as I walk up, a part of my body is saying "Choose where you want to be."
Another is saying "Stay with the family. For your safety."
As I take the knife, I look at the bowls. I walk to the Abnegation bowl and slit my wrist.
As my wrist hovers over, I look at the stones.
Am I really choosing what's best for me?
Or am I only thinking of the family?
For once, I have to think of what's best for me.
My blood flows, but it still has yet to drip.
And as it's about to, I move my wrist at the last second to the coals of the Dauntless bowl.
And my blood sizzles on the coals.
"Dauntless."
I know it was selfish of me to do that, but now I'm not Abnegation anymore.
I am Dauntless now.
I can be who I want to be now.
