One Choice Is All We Get
Crimson______
It's total overwhelming. Today's the big Choosing Ceremony, and I am shaking like MAD!
Yesterday's test told me Dauntless is where I should be. Makes sense. Since I'm born Dauntless.
But it's my choice. So to the Test yesterday, I say meh!
While the other factions walk towards the Ceremony hall, us Dauntless have our own way of getting there. We are the only faction who takes the City train, so we can use it to prove our bravery.
And today, we have it planned.
When the train is close to the hall entrance, the doors open, as the Dauntless start jumping out. The train doesn't stop, because what's the point in bravery if it stops, right? I jump out with Lea. She and I have been best friends for 10 years. Her brother, Sonic, is a Dauntless leader, so hopefully she'll stay Dauntless, because I intend to.

______
Usually when someone asks me if I'm nervous about something, I say "No, I'm not nervous," because it's the truth. But this time, if someone asks me, I have to admit that I am. Because it's how we should act in Candor.
Truthfully.
But my Aptitude Test told me I'm not cut out for Candor.
And I'm not surprised. I never fitted in at Candor. And I never will.
So today I can choose differently; I can find the faction I truly belong in.
The entire population of 16 year-olds are gathered in the Ceremony hall. We sit with our own faction, with our families beside us.
But I know that soon, my choice will sink into my family's hearts forever.
Will they come visit me?
Transfer families rarely visit, because the fact that their child ditched them for another faction is still too much to bear.
But we have to move on from it.
Faction before blood.

______
The hall is so big! It's so amazing!
I look at the stage, and there stand 5 bowls. Each one represents a faction, with its own containment. Grey stones for Abnegation, a piece of earth for Amity, broken shards of glass for Candor, sizzling coals for Dauntless, and clear water for Erudite.
When I walk up, my blood will be either spreading across the water, or sizzling on the boiling hot coal.
I am still shaking in fear. Even more than yesterday.
"Thank you everybody for joining us today," an Abnegation man says. He stands on the stage, in front of the bowls, holding a knife. "As you know, our dependants are now 16. They are at a time to choose their own path. One choice. One choice can transform them. But this choice is the only choice they have. Dependants, be aware. Once you choose your faction today, you cannot choose again. And if you fail initiation, you will live factionless."
Live factionless? Oh God!
"I shall call out your names from reverse alphabetical order of factions, starting with Erudite."
So after all the Erudite choose, the Dauntless will choose.
I don't have long to decide.
Dauntless, or Erudite.
