Flashback pt. 1
-Flashback-"Mia, you look so beautiful under these stars," James said.
The year was 1862. The Civil War was going on, and I felt like it was pointless. The south wanted slavery, the north didn't. The north had the right idea, even President Lincoln agreed. People were shipping off fathers, sons, brothers, and friends to fight for no reason. They had a goal, though, and that was to make the country right. But, whatever I said didn't matter, since I was only a fourteen year old girl.
I was lucky to be one of the only girls in my small town who had a boyfriend who was with them. I was also the youngest. James was just under the age to go and fight, and I loved it. He did too. He didn't want to fight. He was the kind of person who wanted peace, not violence. James Ithe was perfect.
He put his arm around me, and brought me closer. We sat under the millions of stars, and stared. He turned his head to me, and I did the same. He came in for the kiss. I let him. He was the best thing in my life. Just him. He pushed away all of the bad things, and replaced it with himself.
We pulled back when we heard a noise. A loud noise. After that many noises followed. Gunshots. We looked at each other. We knew what this meant. The war was in our town.
