Edon
Opening her bright red wings, Ruby flew into the sky, followed by her gray brother. “Catch me if you can, Stone!” she shouted playfully. The gray dragon smirked, “Trust me! I will!” He yelled back, as a gust of wind blew him towards her. Stone tackled Ruby and they were sent tumbling towards the ground. Stone opened his wings and air caught it, before hitting the ground. “No fair! You can’t use your powers!” the ruby dragon pouted. Stone smiled, “Just because you don’t know what yours are doesn’t mean you can stop me from using mine.”Past the two ran several other dragons. The two youngsters looked at each other before following them. “Where do you think their going?” Ruby asked Stone. Her brother shrugged and continued to follow the guards. Screams and shouts could eventually be heard and the two became worried. “Someone has killed the king!” a woman nearby cried. The two froze in place, “Dad!” they yelled in unison. They took off into the air, gliding where the most guard were clumped in a circle. They landed nearby, and pushed through the crowd. In the middle of them all was their ivory mother holding their bleeding father. “You can’t leave us!” the queen shouted, crying into the kings chest. “Daddy?” Ruby said, tears leaking from her eyes.
The red dragon woke with a start. “Another bad dream?” a blue dragon asked from the other side of the bed. Ruby nodded, scooting closer to her lover, “You know, Laz, I wonder if these are real memories or a figment of my imagination.” Ruby yawned, wrapping her arms around the male. “Do you want to talk about it?” Lazuli asked. Ruby shook her head and slowly fell back to sleep.
Stone ran through the halls, frantically looking for his sister. Coming up to her room, he barged in without a thought of knocking. “Ruby! Wake up! I need you!” Stone shouted. “Five more minutes” Ruby groaned. Lazuli turned to his side, groaning, “Shut the door.” “It’s mother.” Stone explained, his tone serious. Ruby automatically shot out of bed and to Stone, “What happened?” she asked, her eyes scared and wild. Lazuli rolled out of bed and quickly moved next to Ruby. “She’s dying and wants to speak to you.” Stone replied, turning and began running back to his mother’s room. The couple followed quickly, in their night clothes.
Stone quietly opened the door to his mother’s bedroom. “I brought her, mother.” Stone said, calmly. “Good, good. Ruby, come dear.” Ivory spoke. The red dragon hesitantly stepped forward. “Listen to your brother. He will be a wise and strong king.” Ivory whispered. “When have you ever known me to listen to him?” Ruby joked, tears forming in her eyes. The ivory dragon weakly chuckled “I’ve changed my mind about Lazuli. I will bless.... your wedding. . .” Ivory said, coughing between words, “Lapis Lazuli. Come my child.” The blue dragon stepped forward, kneeling by the dying queen. “I want you to take care of my child. . . . . . .” Ivory wheezed, before her face paled and eyes drooped. “Mom!” the siblings cried out. Ruby collapsed to her knees, next to Lazuli. Her lover enveloped her in his arms. Stone looked away, letting the tears fall.
