Chapter Eight

I couldn’t believe my ears. The love of my life, which had been written to me in the stars, just asked me to marry him. I was frozen with shock but the happiest tears of my life rolled down my face as I stared at the man before me. All I could manage was a simple nod, followed by more tears.

“Oh Honey…” Surge got up and hugged me tight “Thank you so much. You don’t know how happy I am right now” He opened the black box to reveal the prettiest engagement ring in the world. It had a nice dark blue sapphire in the middle surrounded by a cluster of diamonds, all embedded onto a golden band.

“The ring…. It’s beautiful…” I accepted the ring onto my left ring finger and smiled brightly, it was a perfect fit.

“There’s an inscription on the inside of the ring. it reads; The stars may be bright, but you, my love, are brighter” I smiled brightly.

“This must of cost so much… Surge, you didn’t have to spend so much money on me… honestly…”

“I know… But I wanted you to have something special. You don’t have a lot of valuable things and- “

“You are my most valuable thing Surge; I don’t need anything else”

“Maria… I mean that much to you…?”

“of course! Why do you think I said yes? I couldn’t live without you; this relationship was written to me in the stars!”

“What do you mean?”

“I always said that there was something written in the stars, and when you asked me out, I finally discovered what was written in the stars; Cercavo Amore. It means; I was searching for love.”

“Wow… Cercavo Amore…. That’s Italian isn’t it?”

“Yep!” Surge came and sat next to me on the fountain and pulled me into his warm embrace, smiling brightly. This was the best day of my life. I was finally marrying the guy of my dreams. People were walking past us, smiling softly and whispering things like “isn’t that sweet?” and “Ah, young love… “

“let’s get you home honey. It’s getting cold and Sapphire will wonder where you are.”

“Alright, Thank you for tonight. I love you so much”
