Chapter Ten
“Sapphire’s really excited for our wedding. All the glass in the room nearly smashed, she squealed so much.” I heard Surge chuckle and I looked to my side.“That’s not a surprise. She’s an amazing girl. Im surprised you two aren’t sisters.”
“I wished we were… I really do. She is like a sister to me. We’ve known each other since birth and we have stuck around together ever since.” I looked around and saw that we were coming close to the restaurant. It was an amazing four-star restaurant with a hotel attached to the side of it. I had been in there a couple of times since the food wasn’t expensive but that didn’t mean that the food lacked quality. We went inside and were directed to our table. It was at the back of the restaurant in a private stall with a view of the amazingly turquoise river. The blues and greens reflected in the sun, causing it to shimmer and look like the aurora borealis that was sometimes seen in Iceland.
“How do you like the view?” Surge was sat opposite me and was staring out the window much like I was.
“It’s beautiful… and it’s a lovely summers day as well. The sun is shining so brightly, making the river glisten…”
“It will never be as beautiful as you Maria. And nothing can be brighter than your smile” I turned my head to look at him and saw him smiling happily. Our peaceful moment was broken a little by a waiter coming over, asking us what we would like to drink. Surge ordered a lemonade and I ordered a strawberry milkshake as it was quite a warm day and I fancied a milkshake for a change.
“What are you going to have then Surge?” I picked up the menu and looked over it, there were so many to choose from and a lot of my favourites were on it.
“I don’t know… I might have the steak… but then again, the burger sounds nice…” I giggled, typical Surge. He could never make his mind up and when he did, he would then see something else that he likes and then has another debate about whether or not he wanted that instead.
“I think I will have the…” I quickly looked through the menu again and saw what I wanted. “I’ll have the roast. Roast pork sounds really nice!” I looked up at Surge and saw that he was still debating about what to have.
“Everything sounds so nice… honey, can you chose for me?”
“Alright then, why don’t we both have pork roast?” Surge nodded and put the menu down. I called the waiter over and ordered our food. Me and Surge talked about the scenery and talked about work. But the main topic of conversation was the wedding. We talked about what theme we wanted, who we wanted to come, where we wanted the wedding. We didn’t want to be normal and have our wedding in a church. There was talk of having the wedding abroad in the Caribbean but we then decided that it would be too expensive. We settled on having the wedding at the beach near to the restaurant and then coming back after the wedding to the restaurant that we were currently sitting in. The great thing about this restaurant was that there was a function room towards the back so we could have the disco and the party afterwards. One thing we couldn’t decide on though, was how many people we wanted to bring as we didn’t want to make the wedding too expensive.
