Coldsteel, Dusk, and the band ( this chapter is hella long so no judgment if no one reads it)
Sonic was hanging at his house trying to have a good time at the party but he struggled to not think about Coldsteel.
Shadow arrived at the party and walked over to Sonic. He could tell something was bothering Sonic so they talked about Coldsteel being out of jail and how Sonic was worried about who Coldsteel would be meeting at the coffee shop and what they might be planning.
Shadow nodded, "Sonic I makes sense you don't trust Coldsteel I don't think anyone does after he almost killed us after he stopped working with G.U.N. But from what I'v heard he has been working on changing. I don't think you need to worry about it. "
Sonic sighed, "I guess your right Shad. Let's enjoy the party for now."
For a while Sonic was having a great time at that party. As he was sitting down on the couch Tails walked over to Sonic and taped him on the shoulder, "Sonic we're out of pizza and a lot of people are at the party still haven't had any can you run over to the pizza shop and pick up a few more pizzas?"
Sonic smiled at Tails, "Of course Tails I can run over now and have the pizza over in a few minutes."
Tails thanked Sonic as he ran out the door headed to the pizza shop.
Once Sonic had arrived and ordered the pizzas he had to wait for the pizzas to be made so he looked out the window to his surprise he saw Dusk sitting across the table from Coldsteel in front of the coffee shop. Sonic wanted to run over to Dusk and drag her away from Coldsteel and make sure she never talked to him again. Sonic was usually pretty forgiving to villains but Coldsteel was one person Sonic wouldn't mind if he was killed.
As he watched he couldn't take it anymore he probably wouldn't have minded if Dusk was her normal self on guard and wary, but she seemed very relaxed as she drank her coffee and talked with Coldsteel. What if Coldsteel lost his mind agian and tried to kill her?
Sonic mentally slapped himself in the head. Dusk wasn't stupid she knew what she was doing he should let her do what she wanted.
The bell rang that let him know that the pizzas were ready so he walked over to the counter paid for the pizza and walked out the shop.
As he stared to walk head back to the house he looked back at Coldsteel one more time. Even if Dusk could take care of herself Coldsteel wasn't the safest person to be around. Sonic remembered Tails saying that maybe if Dusk was related to him she would be more comfortable around the Freedom Fighters. What if that is why she was so comfortable around Coldsteel?
Sonic decided he would walk over just to check that everything was alright so he turned the opposite direction of his house and started walking across the street to where Dusk and Coldsteel were drinking their coffee.
Coldsteel looked up from his conversation with Dusk to see Sonic walking toward them, "Hey asshole how yah doin?" Coldsteel called to Sonic as he flipped him off.
Sonic growled under his breath trying not to call Coldsteel all things he wanted to call him. He finally arrived at the table they were sitting at and said, "Hey Dusk how yah doin?" He didn't mean to sound irritated but he did. He was really pissed that Coldsteel was okay with flipping him off after all he had done to ruin his life.
Dusk answered, "I'm good, why the heck are you here?"
Sonic didn't respond he didn't want to sound rude by saying he hated and didn't trust Coldsteel so he came over to check that he wasn't doing anything illegal.
When Sonic didn't respond Coldsteel joined in the conversation, "Oh I get it your pissed off that I flipped you off, Nothin personal kid. And your here because you don't trust me. "
Sonic shrugged, "Mabye."
Dusk looked at Sonic clearly not happy he was there. "Sonic I don't know what beef you have against Coldsteel but I think you should get those pizzas to whoever is going to eat them before they get cold."
Sonic knew that he was clearly not wanted there and that Dusk had everthing under control so he picked the pizza boxes said goodbye to Dusk and went back to the party.
Dusk sighed, "Damn that was close. Sonic is out of sight you can keep smoking now if you want. Got a light?"
Coldsteel nodded, "Here yah go." he said as he handed Dusk a lighter for the cigarette Dusk pulled out from her quills where she had hidden it while Sonic was at the table.
"I always wondered what is the deal with you and Sonic? The night that I got the DNA test he stared screaming at Shadow about him giving me the results because you were on them."
Coldsteel's exprestion when dark for a moment but he cleared it up before answering Dusks question.
"After the bombing that killed your parents I joined the military when I was old enough to fight against the people who did it. Since I have the same powers as Sonic I did really well in the military but after a while the military had me do some things I didn't want too so I ended up comiting some war crimes. After the war G.U.N heard about me and my power so they had me work for them. I was doing really well with them I had all the things I had done wiped from my record and was doing really well but then Shadow stared working for G.U.N and they wanted him to work for them so badly that they kicked me out to make space for him. I wanted my job back so I attempted to kill Shadow and almost did but Sonic grabbed him last second so that he could recover. I needed a job so I stared working for Eggman and almost killed all the freedom fighters but seconds before I was going to kill Sonic I was tranquilized by G.U.N and put in jail. I got out recently thanks to you and for good behavior."
Dusk nodded, "That makes sense. Honestly I don't blame you for any of what you did. Thanks for telling me that it must be pretty personal."
Coldsteel laughed a little, "Nah it ain't nothing personal kid it's just history."
Dusk nodded, "Hey got another cigarette I can use?"
Coldsteel nodded and passed Dusk another cigarette.
"Hey wanna see something cool?"
Dusk nodded. And she followed Coldsteel down the street to garage. when he opened it the garage was full of guitars, drums, amps, and a microphone. Coldsteel walked over to a custom electric guitar and stared to play I Feel So by Box Car Racer. When he looked up from
what he was playing he saw Dusk mouthing the lyrics to the song. He handed Dusk the microphone and contiued playing on the guitar.
Once they had finneshed the song Dusk said, "Wow your really good at the guitar."
Coldsteel laughed a little, "I'm not terrible at it, Your not a bad singer yourself."
"Thanks Steel I sing a lot on my own but never with other instruments it was fun."
Dusk wandered around the garage and found a guitar a lot like the one she used to play she took it down and played a short riff on it.
Coldsteel was a little suprised that Dusk could play the guitar but no the less he took down a base guitar and stared playing the base guitar part to the riff that Dusk was playing.
After she was finished Coldsteel said, "Hey Dusk my band is looking for a new lead guitar player would you be interested?"
"Why not?"
"Me and the rest of the band will be practicing here tonight meet us if you really want to join the band."
"Okay I'll be there." Dusk said as she nodded.
"I have to go for now Dusk but see ya then" Coldsteel said as he put down his guitar and walked out of the garage.
Dusk wasn't sure what to do till she met the rest of the band so she sat outside the garage since Coldsteel had closed it up before he left. She suddenly got a text from Shadow(here is what the phone screen said since I don't know how to put texting into story form.)
Shadow: Hey Dusk, Sonic told me you were hanging out with Coldsteel. I think he is kind of worried would you mind stopping by the party at his house so he know's your still alive?
Dusk: Sure
Shadow: See you there, it seems like this might be one of those party's that go till midnight just to let you know.
Dusk: K I'm heading over now.
Dusk headed over to Sonic's house and walked inside. Almost first thing she walked through the door Sonic rushed over to her.
"Dusk! your okay did Coldsteel do anything wrong while you were out?"
"No, we just hung out for a while." Dusk responded silently thinking of the Cigarettes she had smoked. It was technically illegal for her to smoke them since she was only 15 but it was fine. Sonic didn't need to know about that.
Shadow was across the room watching Dusk talk with Sonic. Her expressions almost never gave anything away but Shadow had seen her avoid eye contact with Sonic for a second when she answered his question. Sonic probably hadn't noticed but Shadow had he wondered what she had done while she was out.
Dusk seemed to be her normal self as she hung out at the party for a few hours. She grabbed a drink of Ice Tea and talked with Rouge for a little while. But Shadow swore that when she talked to him for a few minutes he smelled cigarette smoke. Sonic and the others wouldn't know what the smell was but he did.
Shadow walked over to Rouge who was probably the oldest person at the party and said. "Hey Rouge when Dusk was talking to you did you smell smoke?"
Rouge thought for a moment, "Well hun there might have been a hint of the smell of smoke. Any reason your asking?"
Shadow nodded "I have a suspition but I don't want to start any rumors. Do you know where Dusk is? I want to talk to her."
Rouge shook her head "Sorry hun she left about 20 minutes ago and I think we all know you can't find her once she's left the party."
Shadow nodded and then walked of to get another slice of pizza as he did he texted Dusk
Shadow: Hey Dusk I noticed a hint of a smoky smell when we were talking. You sure Coldsteel didn't do anything when you were hanging out?
Dusk: Yes
Shadow: Okay but if there is something I can keep a secret.
Dusk: Okay
Dusk sighed she didn't need any more of the Freedom Fighters knowing bout what she was doing with her own time. She ran over to Coldsteel's garage and walked in. As she walked in she saw the other band members. As she walked in she smelled something somewhat like gasoline and realized that all the band members were smoking but they weren't just smoking cigarettes they were smoking weed.
Dusk didn't like to inhale weed but if she was going to be in the band she guessed that she better get used to it. Coldsteel spotted her walking around the garage and introduced her to the other members of the band.
"Dusk this is Scourge, Mephiles, and you already know me."
Dusk nodded the green hedgehog walked over to her, "Hey babe you gonna be our you lead guitar player?" he asked as he blew smoke into her face."
Dusk nodded and smacked his hand away from where it was near her face. "Never blow the in my face again."
"Awww why not babe? don't you like the feeling of being high?"
The Black and gray hedgehog named Mephiles walked over to them and pushed Scourge away from Dusk. That's when she noticed he didn't have a mouth. But none the less a gravely deep voice came from him, "Leave her alone Scourge."
"To answer your question I try not to breath in the smell of weed I had a small addiction for a while and I don't want to start the addiction back up. " Dusk answered as she took the electric guitar down from the wall.
Coldsteel nodded, "Scourge don't blow smoke in her face anymore or your out of the band."
Scourge rolled his eyes, "Fine but I'm still going to smoke it."
"I don't have a problem with that" Dusk answered.
Coldsteel handed Dusk a plain cigarette and they stared practicing. To see what Dusk could do they had her play Born With Horns by Machien Gun Kelly. When they saw she was pretty good they practiced some songs the band had made for a few hours. After that Scourge pulled out a beer bottle and started to drink it, Coldsteel also drank some beer.
When they offered to Dusk she said, "Nah sorry ya'll if I drink one I'll want another."
Scourge answered, "So that's not a problem we have a few six packs in the mini fridge you can have as many as you want."
With that Dusk folded and ended up drinking two and a halve bottles. Then everyone started to head home. She knew that it didn't take much to get her drunk and that she wasn't in any condition to walk, run or chaos control to her house. She sighed she didn't want anyone to know about this but she needed to get home the garage was just a garage by itself and Coldsteel had already gone home.
She sighed and texted Shadow.
Dusk: Hey Shad I need you to pick me up.
Shadow: Why?
Dusk: I'm not at home right now and it isn't safe for me to take myself home.
Shadow: Okay where are you.
Dusk: Outside the garage, on Matrix rd.
Shadow: Why the hell on you on Matrix rd people get mugged and jumped there all the time.
Dusk: Long story are you going to pick me up?
Shadow: Sure
Dusk: Thanks
Shadow couldn't beilve the text he just got from Dusk. If she was asking for help she must really need it because she never asked for help. He got on his motorcycle and drove to where Dusk said she was. He saw her slumped against the wall of the garage. As she got on the back of the motorcycle he smelled a mix of weed,cigarette smoke, and beer. He wanted to ask her if she was alright but right now she clearly just needed to go home.
Dusk gave him directions to her house and he drove her over. As she got of the motorcycle to go inside her house she stumbled and Shadow just barely caught her before she hit the ground. Something was definitely off Dusk was usually so alert and on guard. She would never have stumbled like that. Shadow guided her inside her house.
Dusk flopped on the couch, " ThanksShadow" Dusk said her words slurred together.
Shadow nodded. "No problem. I'm going back to that party at Sonic's but when your less drunk I want you to text me why the hell you were drunk of your ass on one of the most dangerous streets in the city.
Dusk nodded and Shadow went back to Sonic's.
When he arrived back at the party the first question Sonic asked him was where he had gone.
"Dusk needed some help with something."
Sonic started to look worried, "What do you mean Dusk never needs help."
"Tonight things were a little different."
Sonic was really mad Shadow wouldn't tell him what was going on but he walked away from Shadow and continued to have a good time at the party.
