Chapter 7: Leo
I all of sudden woke up, barely realizing where I was. I remember that Georgia had been practicing her powers with me, then there was a blank spot in my memory. I remember something with a tree, but not much else. I think I just couldn't remember because I was tired since the memory of what happened slowly came back. Stupid sleep deprovation, I thought to myself. When I readjusted my position, I saw Georgia laying on the ground next to me, apparently sleeping. I looked at the sun. Based on its position, it appeared to be about 5:45 in the morning. I decided to settle in, and hopefully sleep for two-ish hours. I barely got a wink of sleep after that. It felt so good to have a friend to confide in, especially her.
Finally, after what had seemed like forever, Georgia woke up. I didn’t even realize I was staring until she spoke.
“Why are you looking at me like that, you goof?” she said in a soft but powerful voice.
“Oh, yeah, sorry.” I mumbled, “Well, should we pack up and get going?” I asked.
“Sure, but only after some food!” she exclaimed.
I got a fire going while she got some water boiling. I also got a rabbit that I had shot a while ago and started cooking it. After I saw the water was boiling, I told Georgia, and she put some herbs into it to make it tea. She got both of us a cup of tea, while I split the rabbit up in half and gave her one of the pieces.
“Cheers!” I said as we both took a sip of the delicious warm drink. We both hadn’t had too much of a meal in a few days, so it felt good to eat hot food.
“Thank you very much for the food, Leo. It’s very good,” She said in between bites.
“No problem at all! Thanks for the drink!” I said gratefully.
After we both finished with our food, we packed up all of our stuff, which wasn’t much. We started walking away from our camp, kept on hiking.
“Look,” Georgia said as she pointed to the wall. There were a bunch of small diamonds printed on the wall. There were also a bunch of guards on posts. I motioned to her to start running, then we both started sprinting. We were finally near our destination.
Once we had found a good area to hide, we stopped running. Before I could say anything, she started talking.
“We need a plan. We have to figure out a way to get in, and what to do afterward. Remember, there are two castles, so we will have to be very careful with both.”
“Yeah, but the problem is, you don't have any weapons to fight with, and we'll need your skills in more than one area,” I told her.
“What skills?” she asked me.
“What do you mean ‘What skills?’ You’re smart, quick on your feet, adaptable, and your powers are impeccable.” I told her.
“Thanks, Leo.” She said, pushing back some hair behind her ears.
“How about this? I will teach you how to shoot the bow, and then it can be your weapon when we go through with the plan.” I said, “Anyways, it’ll probably already be a while before we actually do it.”
I got out my bow and the quiver and gave it to her.
