Don't Stop Running

The start of a second chance

Finally after three days of just running around with his new legs, Josh was on his way to what could be a new life for him. When he got there he met up with Mr Wilson and they without words made their way to the main area.
"Now Josh on the other side of these doors is the future, are you ready for" Mr Wilson asked him.
Josh pulled his bag back over his shoulder "Yeah I'm ready" He said with confidence.
This massive metal door opened very slowly and They made there way through it "WOW" Josh was amazed at what he saw. There were people running around with drones flying all over the place. He could see things like tanks and light transport vehicles.They continued to walk through the busy and open area it seemed nothing was stopping like everything was always going.
"Alright" Mr Wilson said as they reached a fence "As you can see this is were the younger ones like your self go to run around and get some practices trying all sorts of things from climbing to swimming" Josh looked in and saw 16-19 year old's running around and jumping gaps. One ran past and spotted Josh they seemed to know him.
"Hey Josh!" The girl said and slowly walked to the fence.
"Um hey Josh responded" Josh paused before saying "Do I know you?"
"Oh sorry" She said taking off her helmet "It's me Kate"
Josh was surprised yet relived to see her "Oh you never said you came here" he said to her.
"Oh yeah I only joined about a week ago and never really talked about it" She answered.
"So Kate how's the training going?" Mr Wilson interrupted
"It's good, really good" She replied to him.
"Well since you and Josh know each other i don't see why we don't partner you guys up as a team" He said them both.
Kate replies "I don't mind, I mean it won't hurt right?" she turns to Josh.
"Well no it won't so why not might as well" Josh says feeling relived in way.
"Alright Kate meet us by the front gate and you can show Josh around" Mr Wilson said.
Kate smiled and walked off to get her stuff and find the gate. Josh followed Mr Wilson to the front gate. Then Kate came out.
Mr Wilson nodded and walked off leaving to two of them alone.
"Well lets get going" Kate said as she walked to yet another large building.
They walked through the huge doors and into a training area. It was filled with things ranging form armor to weapon. They kept walking and someone spoke to Kate.
"Hey Kate" Said the man who was talking to her.
She looked around and saw who it was "Oh hey Jake"
Josh turned his head to see the person who had laughed at him and made him loose the race he was so ready to win "Jake" Josh said with some anger in his voice.
"Oh look it's-" He looked at Josh's leg Josh was wearing short so his legs were viable "What the hell!?"
"Kate can we get on with this?" Josh said to Kate
"Yeah su-" Kate went to speak but Jake butted in.
"So you think your man enough to be here do ye?" He got up right in front of Josh
Josh said calmly "Yeah I do" he then pushed past Jake and followed Kate to the shooting range.
"So in there was our hand-to-hand combat area" Kate turned and said to Josh "But this is our shooting range"
Josh looked around to see weapons lined up on the wall and along the other on some artificial training range.
They both heard a laugh "Yeah and I hold top score for the under 20's" it was Jake.
"Jake no one car-" Kate was about to say but Josh stood up straight and butted in.
"Sorry Kate but i think some needs to be put in their place" Josh slowly turned his head round to Jake. "Whats your score?"
"68/100 you can't beat that trust me no one has and never will, well Kate came close" He boasted.
"Yeah mine was 67/100 so one off" Kate then said. "Josh don't bother just leave him"
"So do i get to pick a weapon and all that?" Josh asked Kate.
"Yes you do anything" Kate replied to him.
"Then I'll see what I can do" Josh said as he turned and looked at the weapons on the wall.
He reached for a bow with a switch device, he flick the switch on it and the bow change the sting length.
"Hmm very nice so I see that the short one allows faster but weaker shots, and the longer one give stronger shots yes?" Josh asked Kate.
"Yes that's right" A voice out of nowhere said but Kate and Jake then stood with their legs together and with their right hand on their fore head saluting at someone. Josh turned him self and saw a man calmly walk in saying "Stand down you two, and I presume your Josh?"
Josh looked at him "Um yes sir"
"Well don't mind me carry on" He said to them all.
"Alright Kate I'm ready" Josh looked at Kate then Jake.
Kate walked to a console and started pressing buttons. Suddenly the place lit up and there was a small circle in the middle of a small area.
Josh then slowly walked to this circle and stood in the center of it. Then a door closed behind him.
"Welcome to the under 20 training and please do your best" Said the A.I
Josh took hold of the bow and then took an arrow and had the small string on.
Suddenly a target appeared in front of him. He then shot the arrow at it and it smash and diapered. Then more and more kept coming but Josh was ready for each one. Every time one appeared he'd shot it with the bow.
"37, 38, 39,40" Kate counted as his score went up and up.
Josh was still going but he made missed some but he kept going and his score just didn't stop going up. Josh twisted and turned himself trying to hit as many as he could around him. But then just like that.
"training over please exit the training area or try again" the A.I said.
Josh made his way back seeing nothing but shock on Kate and Jake's faces. He looked at the man that came in earlier and he had a smile on his face before walking away. Josh walked to the others "So what did I get"
Kate looked up at him "84/100".
They all looked at each other and then Josh walked away with a smile.
For the next 4 years Josh did the same over and over always training always trying to be better. Josh was ready for the up coming storm.
