"Welcome to Baydell!"
Finally, the limo, or which the men, Flow and Stone, called it, The Flower, lurched to a sudden stop."Welcome to Baydell, our land. For the next year, you will be in this city, and this city only. The whole city is the academy, by the way." Stone said.
"Out, Abigail Easton. We leave you now, you are on your own." Flow added firmly.
I gasped. How would I find my way around? Seeing my look, they added,
"Don't worry, there will be guides. See you around!"
"Where are you going now?"
"We transport other students around Luxuria, the Academy you will be attending. Farewell."
I waved a goodbye and climbed out. They windows had been covered with black plastic so it was impossible to see outward. As I stepped out, I glanced up. I couldn't understand why they used the plastic at all. (See picture)
Glass skyscrapers lined each other, each competing to be the tallest and fanciest. Natural light flooded in from all directions, and hovercrafts zoomed around in the sky. One girl in a glittering dress in a baby blue hovercraft smiled down on me and steered downward. She landed down on the sidewalk next to me and shuffled out. I gasped in awe. Her skin was perfect, her hair was perfect, everything about this life was perfect!
"Hi, I'm Jewel. It looks like you're new here."
I nodded. "Yeah I'm Abigail, but you can call me Abby." I shook her outstretched hand eagerly.
"So, based on what you're wearing, looks like you arrived her about...0.5 seconds ago?" I shook my head.
"I've been her about 30 seconds."
She laughed. "Time her goes slower than your home."
"How? Where did Flow and Stone bring me?"
"They didn't tell you?"
I shook my head.
"Well, they brought you into a different demension." Looking around, she added. "You've gotta admit, it's pretty cool!"
I nodded. I ought to say something. "Why do people her have names like Flow and Stone?"
"Abby, let me ask you. Why do people in your demension have names like Abigail?"
I shrugged. She was pretty tricky.
"You know," Jewel continued, "I used to live in your world, like you."
I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Well, nice meeting you, Abby. See you around." She smiled warmly. "By the way, you should be heading that way."
With a steady finger, she pointed in the direction a glass bubble that was suspended in mid-air.
