The New Neighbor
"Yes, I'm sure!"
Lyvia rolled her eyes. Amy Hendrickson, her best friend was trying to talk her out of something once again. They were at Mariposa Salon and Spa in New Orleans, Louisiana. "Oh, shut up Amy, it's not like I'm going to dye my own head," Lyvia said impatiently. Amy started mumbling as Lyvia walked into the salon. Amy was always struggling to keep Lyvia in line. Lyvia's reputation was always getting her in trouble. As the best gambler in town at only 16 years old, she was often targeted by other adults looking for an opponent. Her bad attitude often got her into trouble, and Amy couldn't always keep her in control. Amy sighed and leaned against the car. It was a white 2020 KIA Rio with nasty scuff marks all along the top of the car. How the scuff marks were only at the top of the car was another story. Amy was in deep thought when Lyvia came out of the salon. The minute she looked at her she gasped. Of course, Lyvia hadn't listened once again. Lyvia had come out with a head full of pure, white, hair.
"Lyvia Vagatha Simon!" Mrs. Simon exclaimed, "What were you thinking?" "Mom, it's not that bad!" Lyvia argued. Mrs. Simon sighed, "You dyed your hair without permission, Lyvia! That's bad."
Lyvia rolled her eyes, "Whatever, Mom. I'm going to my room!" Lyvia began up the stairs. "Lyvia, we are not done talking about this!"
Mrs. Simon exclaimed as Lyvia proceeded to open the door to the second floor. Lyvia slammed the door behind her. She sighed as she entered her bedroom. Flopping herself on the bed, she turned towards the window. Suddenly, a truck pulled up. A moving truck. Lyvia sat up and stared at the truck. Were they getting new neighbors? What would they be like? Lyvia sighed again and pulled out her phone. After fighting with her mother, she would always need to vent, and could Amy was always there to listen. Lyvia dialed her friend's number and put it to her ear.
The next morning Lyvia woke up to the sound of her alarm. As she picked up her phone to turn it off, the effects of last night hit her hard. And she was utterly exhausted. After talking to Amy on her cell phone for several hours she had gotten very little sleep. Lyvia went to open her curtains and saw quite a nice car pull up next to another moving truck. And it was a nice car. The car was shiny and black, with not a scratch on it. It looked like a SWAT, but shiny and with no gear. Then, the most beautiful girl Lyvia had ever seen stepped out of the car. She had long, black hair that sparkled in the sun, and gorgeous olive skin. She looked in shape and the way she walked was almost enchanting enough to hypnotize people. The girl sashayed into the house across the street, and Lyvia watched in absolute awe. Whoever this girl was, Lyvia needed to know.
