My top ten favorite and least favorite sonic characters. (Alexis the Hedgebat style.)

Maria Robotnik (least favorite) #3

Okay... *sighs* I know exactly how I am going to put this argument thanks to the mysterious mr enter on youtube. The argument on why I don't like Maria. While I've obviously grown to not hate her as much as I used to, she still comes off to me as pretty useless. Its the argument that Mr. Enter made when reviewing Snowdrop. Its a poor blind girl that's bullied, feel sorry for her. When it comes to Maria we only see her from a side view so to say. We don't really see what she's like. Yes we know that she wants Shadow to bring peace and happiness to people on earth and that is a nice thought but you can't just have us feel bad for her because you say she's a nice kid. We need to actually see her do nice things to determine what you want us to feel.
Yes obviously Shadow has strong sisterly feelings towards her but we never really see what she did to him to make him obtain those feelings towards her. In Sonic X it mentions that she had a disease and when push came to shove she sacrificed herself to actually save Shadow but in the actual games there's no mention of the disease. I feel like Sonic X does a little more of a better job of dealing with how characters feel then the games do and they actually give somewhat good reasons to have you feeling certain ways for a character.
I feel like if Maria's character was built up a little more in the games I wouldn't really have a resentment for her but she just feels like nothing more then something to motivate Shadow to actually do something. We really have no reason to find give Maria any type of feelings. Characters should be based on their actions, not because you say they are one way just because. Just like in Sonic Boom if you say Knuckles is an idiot then has to do something stupid. I can buy that. I'm sorry Maria but your in my #3 spot.
