The Force Awakens // Kylo Ren interrogates Rey
Rey's Perspective"That's what happens when you're being hunted by a creature in a mask!" I spit out at the dark presence, staring into me. The intensity of the man before is stronger than anything I've ever felt before. His gloved fingers snake up the side of his metal mask. He wouldn't... would he? The sound of his metallic facade unwinding makes my breath hitch in my throat. Time seems to slow down as the mighty Kylo Ren sheds his mask and all of the sudden everything in my body is set alight. Kylo Ren. A monster - with the face of an angel.
He plunges his mask down onto a stone pedestal with a thud almost as loud as my heart, which I pray he can't sense but part of me knows he can, as I can hear his heart beating along to mine. It'd be a total lie to say I'm not scared, but in all honesty, I've never felt more alive. The sudden rush of adrenaline reminds me to put my own mask back on - feigned confidence.
The tall, dark presence steps towards me, the tension between us thickening with every movement he makes, closing the space between us.
"Tell me about the droid," he demands, eyes narrowing. It's most definitely not a question, but an order. I inhale a sharp breath.
"He's a BB unit with a selenium drive and a thermal hyperscan vindictator-"
"He's carrying a section of a navigational chart," he cuts me off, his dark eyes tearing away from mine. "We have the rest, recovered from archives of the Empire, we need the last piece," his intense stare meets mine once again. "And somehow you convinced the droid to show it to you." He draws a breath. "You. A scavenger." I don't know if his words are accusing me, or if he's impressed.
A small silence lingers between us, his lips creeping up into a smirk.
"You know I can take whatever I want," I don't know why, or how, but as those words fall out of him, my entire body feels as if it's been struck. The tightening of my chest and throat makes my breaths short, desperate. And part of me knows, that's exactly what he wants. He takes yet another step towards me, so close that I can feel this cold-hearted monster's warm breath on my skin.
His hand reaches to touch my cheek and he opens his mouth to say something - but stops. We both stop, as a strange, new feeling crashes through us. A connection, of sorts. His smirk fades and for a split second, if you truly look deeply into his eyes, he's vulnerable. As soon as it appears, it's gone. The man's eyes now filled with lust. Not lust for me, but a deeper, more intense lust. A lust for power.
His fingers arch out, nearly grazing my face. It hits me all too suddenly, that he's not the only one who left themselves vulnerable. His face shifts, as if he's concentrating on every detail before him. Then, all at once, he's there. In my mind, searching. My whole life I've put on a brave face, bht right now I feel like I'm not even in control of myself. All I know, all I can think - don't let him see the chart. Don't let him in.
His lips part softly. "You're so lonely," he murmurs. "So afraid to leave..." I'm not sure if it's the small smirk that creeps across his face, or the way his haunting words are like a soft melody to my ears, but all at once warm tears are rolling down my cheeks. "At night, desperate to sleep," the pain in my chest bursts out of my mouth in a small, pained grown, allowing salty tears to fall onto my lips.
"You imagine an ocean," unexpectedly, his harsh face softens. "I see it - I see the island," my whole body shakes in pain, but it doesn't phase the man before me one bit. In fact, I think he's enjoying it. Without warning, his expression hardens again, his defined jaw clenched. My heart stops. "And Han Solo. You feel like he's the father you never had - he would've disappointed you."
