Down In the Boondocks

Later, they got back home at Maraya's grandma's house down yonder in the boondocks. Ms. Carolyn was amazed when the house looked like her own house in her neighborhood. "Wow, your house looks just like mine from my neighborhood!"

"It sure does," admitted Maraya's grandma. "Isn't it nice?"

"Yeah," answered Ms. Carolyn.

They start to go inside the house after they all looked at the outside of it. Meanwhile, Maraya's grandma was giving Ms. Carolyn a house tour around the inside of her house. Ms. Carolyn thought it looked amazing on the inside, too. Pretty soon after the house tour, Ms. Carolyn sat down on Papa Steve's armchair and just relaxed. As soon as she started relaxing, Papa Steve, Maraya's grandma's husband, came into the living room to say hello to the ladies, but Ms. Carolyn actually said it first.

Papa Steve became shocked. "Who are you?"

"I'm Carolyn," she introduced herself. "And who are you?"

"I'm Steve," he introduced himself back as he gave her a handshake. "It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too," Ms. Carolyn said back. "So, what do you do for your job?"

"My job?" he questioned. "Well, I work somewhere down in Marietta. What about you?"

"Well, I'm a special needs bus driver for my students who have special needs," replied Ms. Carolyn. "I try to keep them safe while I drive bus 158M."

"Yep," Maraya thought. "She sure loves her kids and that's that."

So after Papa Steve talked to Ms. Carolyn, the three ladies hung out and talked together while watching some TV just until a few hours later, it was time to put up the goats and chickens.

"Okay, Maraya, it's time to put up the goats," Maraya's grandma declared.

"Can Ms. Carolyn come, too?" she asked her grandma.

"Of course she can," answered her grandma.

Ms. Carolyn comes into the kitchen when she mentioned her name. "Carolyn, do you have any pockets?"

"Yes, I do," Ms. Carolyn responded.

"Good," said Maraya's grandma. "You can just grab yourself a handful of peanuts and put them in your pocket."

Ms. Carolyn grabbed herself a handful of peanuts and put them in her pocket. As soon as everyone had peanuts to feed to the goats, they got out of the house to walk the two goats, Lily and Bella.

"Hello, girls," she greeted. "Ready to take a walk around the house?"

The two goats came out of the goat pen slowly and without any hesitation. Ms. Carolyn was feeling astonished with everything Maraya's grandma had. "Aw, how sweet."

Maraya's grandma chuckled. "Just see about that."

They start to walk around the house with the two goats and Maraya's grandma's dog, Rusty. "Every day, we usually walk them around the house and they try to find some goodies on the ground to eat, but they always beg for the peanuts that are in our pockets."

"Oh, okay," continued Ms. Carolyn.

When it was time to put up the two goats, Maraya's grandma told her to feed Lily and Bella. "Maraya, you can feed the goats while I show Carolyn how to take care of my chickens."

"Okay," Maraya said.

Maraya started to feed the two goats the peanuts from her pocket. Meanwhile, her grandma was showing Ms. Carolyn how to take care of her chickens. "Carolyn, these are my six chickens: Gypsy, Bipsy, Polly, Dolly, Nugget, and Doodle. Polly and Dolly are identical and Gypsy and Bipsy are identical, but Nugget and Doodle; they are different."

"Oh," Ms. Carolyn said again.

"And I'll be having baby chicks in just about a few weeks, too," her grandma declared.

"Wow," Ms. Carolyn got amazed. "That's amazing!"

"Yeah," she replied. "By the way, let me teach you how to take care of these chickens right here."

After Maraya's grandma and Ms. Carolyn took care of the chickens and after Maraya ran out of peanuts, they all decided to go down for a ride in the Kubota. "Hey, everyone, how about a little ride in the Kubota?"

"All right," Maraya told her.

"I have never ridden in a Kubota before," replied Ms. Carolyn. "but I'll try it to see if I like it."

"Oh, you're going to love it, Carolyn," said Maraya's grandma. "We're just basically going to take a ride down yonder in the boondocks."

"Yeah'" Maraya told her.

"Okay," Ms. Carolyn said again.

The three ladies walked down to the place where the Kubota was parked and when they got there, Maraya's grandma asked them who wanted to drive it. "Okay, who wants to drive the Kubota?"

"Ms. Carolyn should," Maraya answered, pointing to Ms. Carolyn.

"Me?" Ms. Carolyn questioned.

"Yeah," Maraya answered again. "If you know how to drive a school bus, then I'm sure you know how to drive a Kubota."

"Yeah, I guess you have a point there, Maraya," responded Ms. Carolyn. She got in the Kubota and put on her seatbelt. "Okay, I'm going to drive the Kubota."

Maraya got in the other side of the Kubota and buckled her seatbelt. After both of them were set up, Maraya's grandma asked, "Who's going to sit in the back of the Kubota?"

"You are," Maraya points to her grandma.

"Ugh," her grandma groaned as she got in the back.

Ms. Carolyn started the Kubota and drove them down in the boondocks, where Maraya's grandma lived. They were also doing an outside tour of where the three cows, Mama, Moo, and Baby, were. As they were taking a ride down in the boondocks, they took turns driving the Kubota, too. The three ladies had a lot of fun riding in the boondocks together.

After being outside for a while, they all decided to go back into the house. Inside the house, Maraya's introduced her dog, Rusty, and her two cats, Kiki and Thore. "Carolyn, this is my dog, Rusty, and these are my two cats, Kiki and Thore."

"Aw, how cute," said Ms. Carolyn, as she was petting the cats that were lying on her lap. "You know, I have three cats and they're all calicos."

"Oh, cool," replied Maraya's grandma. "Well, I got to tell you that Kiki is a calico and an escape artist and Thore is a tabby. I taught Maraya that the other day and she remembered right away."

"Oh, wow, Maraya," Ms. Carolyn told Maraya. "You really do have an amazing memory."

"Thanks," Maraya smiled at her.

Ms. Carolyn smiled at her back. They squeezed each other's hands to make themselves feel good because they were truly both best friends and they also loved each other, too. Maraya loved Ms. Carolyn, but she knew that she also loved the more important people, like her grandma and her grandpa.
