Gypsy

I strolled through the forest, whistling. The birds chirped above me. Dry leaves crunched under my boots. I swung my arms by my side.
It was my daily hike in the woods, and I was enjoying myself. The cold air frosted my nose. I'd been this route many times, and it was always so still, so quiet, so-
What? I squinted. Sure enough, there was a caravan, nestled among the trees. It was adorned with festive decorations and bright cloths. I slowly approached it.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a woman jumped out. She had one gold hoop earring, a scarf tied around her head, beautiful silky clothing, and bangles on her wrists. She looked like a gypsy. I mean, not that all gypsies looked like that, but she seemed like one.
"It's a girl!" she exclaimed, looking at me. Her eyes gleamed. I took a step backwards. She licked her lips. "What is your name, dearie?"
I gulped. "Um.." Should I tell her? It didn't seem like she could do any harm to me. I didn't see any weapons. But who knows what she was hiding in her clothes. "I'm Anna." I lied.
She shook her head. "That is not your name. Your name is Victoria."
My eyes grew wide. "How-?"
"I am a gypsy. Gypsies know many things." She busied herself with brushing off her lap. "Why have you come to my wagon?"
"Uh- um-" I stammered. "I- I didn't know... I was hiking through the woods, and-"
She held up a hand. "Silence! I know why you came. You want something. Something... special."
"Actually, no, but- but having something special does seem nice." I said..
"Okay, girl." She laid a hand on my head.
"Stop! Get away!" I shrieked, twisting away.
She grabbed me and placed her hand on my head once more. "No. You must stay." She muttered some words that sounded as if they were in a foreign language.
Suddenly, she stopped. She went back into her caravan and closed the door. "Hello?" I shouted. "Gypsy woman?"
There was no answer.
I shrugged and turned back to the path.
Little did I know how much she had changed my life that day.
