Chapter Four

Alina stumbled out of the house, still half asleep. It was 7am. The white opaque fog lay over everything like a thick impenetrable blanket. Somewhere above the clouds the sun was trying to poke through. However, It's efforts seemed to be in vain. She shivered. The day was at it's coldest this time in the morning. Her breath misted in front of her, before dissolving into the cold, damp air.

She began to walk swiftly up the deserted street. However, as she was passing one of the many hedges that lined the pavement, she suddenly felt the familiar sensation you get when walking through a spiderweb. She looked down to see the sticky strands collect on her coat. What a stupid place to build a web, she thought. Then she continued on her way, and soon she arrived at the bus stop.

There she stood, shivering. But then suddenly, there was a shout behind her and she jumped almost out of her skin."Morning, Alina" shouted the grinning Indian boy behind her. Alina turned and grinned back. "Morning Sam!" she replied.
There the pair stood, until the bus arrived, and together they climbed on and bought their tickets and sat down.
Later, Nala, Zander and Georgie got on. Georgie flicked her long black hair, then glanced at Zander. She didn't see Nala glaring at her from behind. Alina laughed; it was a long standing joke that both Georgie and Nala fancied Zander. In fact, it was amazing that Zander had not yet noticed.
