The Next Day

What's that smell? Autumn woke up. Smoke! "FIRE!!!!!!" Autumn yelled as loud as she could. "Run for your life!" screamed someone below. Autumn had to evacuate the house. She grabbed her teddy bear and gerbil and jumped out the window. "I've gotcha lassie!" a boy called from below. "Aiken?" Autumn was surprised to see him in real life. "All fairies have a life on Earth," he replied. It made sense now. Autumn had a human identity. So did Dawn and Dusk. "Some just spend less time there than others. Spent 6 Earth years in Fairyland. Folks thought I gone 'gain!" He must have hid in the forest a lot or something. "Mom! Dad! We need to get out of here fast!" Autumn yelled across the yard. "Hey kids," a firefighter walked up, "you should be leaving the area. Dangerous, you know?" "O' course I do lad! We'll be gone lickety-split, faster than my brother jumped the candlestick!" Aiken opened up the portal. Autumn jumped in after him. Then someone else did too. "Who be you, lassie?" Aiken asked when he noticed the strange girl behind him. "I'm Marla." said the tall willowy girl. "Nice to meet ya, fellow!" Aiken replied cheerfully, "What brings you to these parts? Haven't seen you before." "I'm a water fairy. See you!" Marla said, flying off.
