Possible Bribery

Lucius's and Snape's plan was quite poorly conceived. Voldy found it all to be silly. Lucius could send house elves to shop, or Snape, for goodness' sake. That being said, it had gotten in the way of the Dark Lord's ways.
"All right," Voldemort sat up on his couch. "Lucius, you are going to clean this entire house until there is not a speck of dust upon the floor, nor a speck of mold on the toilet. Then you and Snape will mow the lawn and polish Nagini's scales. You had better dilly-darn make sure that Snape does most of the scale polishing."
"Yes, my lord," Lucius nodded.
"Don't do anything like this again," Voldy said. "I am not always this forgiving." He suddenly wondered if Lucius had given Wormtail some money to work extra hard at Voldy's dinner to put him in a good mood.
But Voldemort finally pushed the thought away. All this thinking gave him a headache.
"Get to work," the Dark Lord snapped. And they did.
So it was a happy ending. Perhaps less so for Lucius, for his fingernails were in tough shape after cleaning and mowing (he was proud of them, too). And Snape had not enjoyed being around Nagini. Voldemort wasn't happy that he had had to waste time looking for Wormtail when he could have been playing on the computer or petting Nagini or looking at pajamas on Amazon. He soon couldn't care less, though, and had three new onesies in his closet by the end of the week.
But now you may say, "What about that wallet that Nagini snitched and made Voldy suspicious about Lucius in the beginning?"
It was Lucius's, in fact. He had a Muggle wallet and some Muggle money and Muggle identification for when he had to go into their world. Draco had had it that day because he took it by accident while picking up books (about cupcakes) to return to the library (Nagini, being a snake close to the ground, hadn't seen the boy's face and thus hadn't known it was him. Draco hadn't noticed her take it. He was probably thinking about whatever had happened in the latest episode of the Bachelor).
Voldy had become suspicious because he is Voldy and easily is suspicious. Here, for once, those suspicions were correct.
