Chapter 6; Bloodshot

"AWW, DID YOU MISS ME, DIMROCK? BECAUSE I SURE MISSED YOU." Void forced a welcoming grin, taking a few steps forward. Deido dragged Lori backwards to him and Kiri, next to Dimrock. Dimrock stared solemnly at his old friend and sighed.
"I was hoping you'd show up in a more passive way, friend."
"FRIEND? THOSE DAYS ARE OVER." Next to Void, another shadow a tad taller than him walked over. This ones body seemed to be severed at multiple places, and just floated near eachother dripping an inklike black blood substance.
"my dear brother, did everything come together?"
"YES, TAR. EVERYTHING WENT FINE." Dimrock's saddened gaze turned to a glare accompanied by a snarl.
"I know exactly who you really are, Cheshire." 'Cheshire' flinched, one large eye planted on his face opening wide in shock. He snarled, glaring with the eye he had.
"Shut up. SHUT UP! SHUT YOUR MOUTH, FOUL DEMON! MY OLD LIFE AND MY OLD NAME MEAN NOTHING!" He shouted out to Dimrock, voice shaking a tad. Tar placed a hand on 'Void's shoulder.
"our deaths are in the past. do not let it shake yo--"
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I WANTED TO PROTECT YOU, BUT NIGHT LIGHT--"
"Dear brother." Tar and Cheshire stared at each other for a few moments. Cheshire sighed, turning back to Dimrock as a spear of darkness formed in his hand.
"LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH. FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN IN THE FIRST WAR FOR PURGATORY. I SLAY YOU WITH THE FINAL BREATH OF FURY RAGING IN MY BODY!" The spear cut through the air like the words that were spoken before it, aimed right for the Lord's chest.
Deido only had a moment to cry out when Kiri's grip quickly released from his arm. "WAIT, WHAT ARE YOU--"
A sound like shattering glass rang out. Lori, although her vision was still blurry, felt her heart sink. Deido cried out, rushing over and quickly dragging Kiri backwards. The spear had pierced through the very core of her existence, through the chest and out the other side. The hologram of her eye was flickering, glitching, fading to black over and over. Her body seemed to be cracking like a broken mirror.
"KIRI! No, no no no no. EYE! SPEAK TO ME, WON'T YOU?! KIRI!" He was frantically shaking her. Her eye was wide open, staring in shock at the spear. Even Cheshire seemed to flinch at he unexpected turn of events. Kiri moved a hand to the spear, dragging her fingers across it. She chuckled weakly as her arm began shattering, shards disappearing.
"He..hehehh..You do care about me, don't ya, bot..?" She murmured, looking up at him. Deido shook her once more a few times, voice quivering as he spoke.
"God- Kiri, please..just, don't speak. It wastes your breath, just don't leave me! I've lost everything. I'm not going to lose you too!" His voice rose into a quivery shout. Cheshire was watching with amusement in his eye as the rest of the rebuilt army of Shadows was entering the throne room. Dimrock had collapsed to the floor, the crown clattering to the ground. Lori had risen to her feet and was gripping the sword that they used to slay Dimrock with tightly.
"But, I was right..about him..lying..to us.." Kiri would smile if she had a mouth. The shattering traveled up her body, towards her torso as her arms dropped to her side and the hologram turned black and flickered away. Deido gasped quietly, a glowing purple liquid that represented tears dripping down his face.
"....You.. I'LL GUT YOU FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" Before he knew it, not only were his hands flaming, Deido was now completely aflame, burning with grief and thirst for vengeance. He charged down Cheshire, who simply sidestepped him. He kept pouncing, just to be dodged. After many attempts, Deido dropped to his knees in front of him, gasping for air.
"ARE YOU DONE?" He leaned down, grinning wide at the robot. More purple tears dripped to the ground. He stood up tall and stared Cheshire in the face. Tears still poured, but his face didn't show emotion. The creature waited calmly for a response.
"No." Deido set one hand aflame and took Cheshire by surprise, grabbing him by the shoulder and punching him in the face with the flaming hand. He screeched in pain and anger, falling back with hands over his face.
"AAGH-- ALWAYS THE EYE! YOU KNOW, THAT TAKES FOREVER TO REFORM!" Lori was trying to hold Deido back, but he was pretty hard to fight against. Before she knew it, two shadows were in front of her. Tar, and a new one with angelic wings floating next to it and a halo.
"brother Dae. shall we?"
"Why would we not?" Dae and Tar both pounced, leaving Lori only to cry out in shock.
[ Meanwhile.. ]
Deido shrieked in fury, claws shredding into Cheshire's shoulders.
"This is for all the people you've lied to!" Cheshire growled, blindly waving his weapon at the source of noise. Deido was dented again, but he was used to it enough to hardly care.
"THIS is for Lord Dimrock.." Cheshire was met with a punch in the head again, sending him leaning back against the nearest wall with spear pointed straight forward. Surely, he was prepared. This time he must be. "And this.." He braced himself.
"IS FOR KIRI!" Not prepared at all. The claws raked his shoulders again, shoving him forward and slicing through his back. He felt dizzy.
"TAR! MY DEAR TWIN, MY BROTHER! I REQUIRE SOME HELP, PLEASE!"
[ ... ]
"dae. you handle the girl. my brother needs me." Dae sighed in annoyance. "Yes, it's only that one you help--WE'RE BROTHERS TOO, YOU KNOW!" He was using a sword as well, a fencing battle that would help determine the very fate of Purgatory. More residents from Purgatory who were capable of fighting had entered the throne room, a being that looked like a moving bat-shaped chunk of the night sky rushing down Tar before he could reach Cheshire. Dae growled in glee as Lori's sword was knocked from her hand, stabbing into the floor.
"Game over, girl. Your story ends here." The sword was a centimeter from stabbing into Lori when someone pulled Dae away, throwing him to the floor like he was a toy. Said being was a fellow of pure green, body flashing and flickering in some places.
"MIraig--"
"Please. Call me the Glitchteller as you called me a night ago. I don't enjoy going by Miraiage at times like these."
By now, shattering bodies of both the shadows and purgatory residents were fading on the floor while some remained. At the end, it was just Cheshire and Tar, Cheshire leaning on him for support and 'vision.' Lori now wore the crown of DImrock, approaching Cheshire and Tar.
"your majesty. the traitor is right here. Tar shoved Cheshire forwards and he crashed to the ground.
"Brother?!" Cheshire turned over, where his eye was meant to be glaring in disbelief at Tar.
"Now. Neither of you are innocent as you claim." Lori began carefully. "I will only be merciful one last time. If you return again, you'll be killed on sight. Leave this castle and this kingdom immediately."
"we have to go."
"WE ALMOST WON! WE CAN'T JUST--DONOR, WE CAN'T LEAVE!" Donor sighed, picking up Cheshire and stepping over still-fading bodies of shadows. Lori turned to Deido, sighing.
"..Are you alright?"
"Pfft, yeah! Cheshire hardly got a hit in on..you're not talking about physically, are you?"
"No."
He hesitated, then looked down at the floor. He spoke slowly and steadily to keep himself from crying again. "I'm..I don't know. I feel like a puzzle piece without a match." Lori patted him gently on the shoulder. He didn't flinch away, this time looking up and gazing forward.
"Will they be back, Queen Lor--"
"Please," She smiled at him, approaching the throne. "You can still call me Lori."
"And, to answer that.." She sat down, gripping the staff of judgement the old king used to use.
"Not if I have any say in it."
