Miles' POV - No Thanks

I do not love McKenzie Kale. I have never loved her, and I never will, and yet, I'm now dating her.
Harry slapped me on the back, and then Jackson did.
"Nice job, buddy. You scored a date," Lewis congratulated.
McKenzie had already walked off to bed, and I was thinking she did the right thing. I knew she wasn't too happy about our predicament either. She has barely even liked me as a person, and now she has to love me as a significant other. I've never been attracted to her, even though she was a radiant woman, even for her age. She was definitely the most beautiful girl in our year, and definitely the most beautiful Slytherin girl, and most boys were attracted, but I wasn't.
Everyone in out large group was engaged in conversation.
"Guys, I think I'm going to bed," I declared.
People waved as I walked off.

The dorm was empty, as I knew it would be since everyone else was still in the common room by the fire. I searched under my bed for some pajamas and my red box. Once I felt my head touch the box, I pulled it out and placed it on my bed. I got changed first and opened up the box.
It was filled with cards. Not just any ones though, they were love letters. I scrounged through the cards until I found the perfect one.
It was on orange paper, and it was done using a muggle art set, which I was proud of, considering I never had used it before this card. I remembered it as my first one I made. I opened up the card.

"I wake up every day with your smile on my mind.
It's a beautiful sight to behold, so soft and so kind.
My dreams are filled with the thought of me and you.
I awake and smile, for my dreams have come true

~Anonymous"

I closed the card up, and sealed it in a white envelope. I walked over to Alex's bed. I placed it at the foot of the bed.
I thought about him. Alex, I mean. He had shining grey eyes, and soft, sweet auburn hair like you wouldn't believe. He was more quiet than most of the boys I hung around with, but that was okay. He was exceptionally intelligent, and he knew what he wanted in life (His plans were to become Head of Magical Law Enforcement). He was also extremely kind and comforting. The one thing that I didn't know was if he would return my feelings, which, most likely, he did not. But, I was hopeful, and I loved him, so I would at least try.
I turned off the lights, and slid into bed, prepared for a good night's rest.
