Chapter 7
Blake’s P.O.V.Me and Steel walked to the courtyard sat on the edge of the fountain..
“What are you doing here?” I asked. She looked at her reflection in the fountain. “Steel, what happened?” She looked up at me, tears in her eyes.
“You left,” she said. “That’s what happened.” I was confused.
“What-”
“Adam went berserk.” She looked back to the fountain. “He started talking about you being a coward, and that you were too afraid to do what was necessary.” A tear slipped down her cheek as she looked me in the eye. “He wants to turn the tables, treat them like they treated us. I might think they’re right, and I might think we don’t deserve to be treated like this, but neither do they.” I felt my eyes fill with tears and wrapped my arms around Steel’s shoulders.
“I’m so sorry you got dragged into this, Steel.”
Me and Steel walked into auditorium and heard, “Aria!” We looked over to see a girl with black hair with red highlights standing by a girl with crazy blonde hair and Weiss Schnee. I looked at Steel.
“Aria?” I asked. She nodded sadly.
“My name is too well known to go by Steel Blue here,” she said. “So I applied as Aria Layn instead.” I nodded. “That’s Ruby, by the way.” I nodded again.
“She’s the girl who blew up, right?” She nodded and looked at the floor. “Go on.” She looked at me.
“Really?” I nodded.
“You’ve always had more friends than I have. Go on.” She smiled and walked away. “Huh.”
Steel’s P.O.V.
“Hey, Ruby,” I said to the fifteen year old. I looked at her older sister. “Yang.” The blonde smiled at me.
“Hey, Aria.” I looked up at the stage, where there was a microphone set up.
“What’s going on?” The sisters shrugged.
“So where did you go?” Ruby asked. “I said something to you, but when I turned around you were walking away with that girl with the giant bow.” I nodded.
“We grew up together,” I said. “But we haven’t seen each other in a while. We just wanted to catch up.” The girl nodded as Professor Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch walked onstage.
“I'll . . . keep this brief,” he said. “You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction.” I looked at Yang, confused.
“What is he talking about?” she mouthed. I shrugged and looked back at Professor Ozpin.
“You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.” He walked away as Glynda walked up to the microphone.
“You will gather in the ballroom tonight,” she said. “Tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed.” We continued staring at the stage.
“He seemed kind of . . . off,” Yang said. I saw Ruby nod out of the corner of my eye.
“It’s almost like he wasn’t even there.” A tall blonde boy walked up.
“I’m a natural blonde, you know.” Weiss groaned.
