My Akatsuki Love Story

Chapter 3: How Nightmare and Alice met

Alice looked at Nightmare and raised her eyebrows. Nightmare smirked and nodded. "I'll tell you, since it's a long story and Alice doesn't like talking that much." Itachi frowned and glanced at Alice, then shrugged and nodded, as if to tell her to continue. Nightmare smiled and kept talking. "Okay, so one day when I was 8 years old, I was sitting in the forest, training like my father told me to, when I heard some yelling and a big ruckus. I ran towards the noise and saw Alice... Well, at first I saw Insanity and his pack, but-" Kisame cut in. "Who's Insanity?" Nightmare looked at him, annoyed, but answered. "Insanity is the demon wolf that controls Alice. When he gets hungry, she gets in fights and usually kills someone, then drinks their blood." Kisame nodded as if he understood, even though you could tell that he didn't. Nightmare continued her story. "Anyway, I saw her fighting some guy, looked like... Obito! That was his name! Yeah, he was fighting her, and she had allowed Insanity to take control. He did some jutsu's, to try and stop the onslaught of Insanity and his pack, but when Insanity's hungry, nothing will stop him from getting his food. Insanity actually grabbed Obito by the neck and threw him against a tree. But Obito was pretty strong, and got right back up.
"At this point in the fight, Alice was getting a little bit mad, cuz it pyshically hurts her when Insanity stays out of her body for too long, so she grabbed her sythe and snuck around until she was behind Obito. He didn't notice her, cuz Insanity and his pack were hittin' Obito with all they had, and it was all Obito could concentrate on if he wanted to live.
"Then Alice pulled out her sythe, reall quick, and she just sliced Obito in half, straight up and down. Insanity and his pack basically converged on Obito's body then, and I heard some sounds that still haunt me. Alice saw me then, and walked up to me with her sythe still out. I got scared that she might kill me, too, but I saw the fear and sadness in her eyes. I actually had a moment where I let my guard down, and I let her get closer to me.
"I looked at her and thought, 'Ya know, she looks like she needs a friend'. So, while Insanity and his pack were still eating, I asked her if she wanted to be my friend. She nodded and her eyes lit up like a kids' on Christmas mornin'. Ever since then, I've been talking to her. After I killed my whole town, she let me travel with her and I grew to really care about her. When I joined the Akatsuki, I knew she wouldn't be up for that, so I let her go and promised her that I'd talk to her whenever I saw her. She's been giving me signals to tell me where she is, so that I can talk to her, but usually I get there after she's already moved on. And that is pretty much our past. Why she's here, well, there's no pattern to where she goes. She just goes to a random place and stays there for as long as she feels the need to." Nightmare took a deep breath at the end of this explanation.
They all sat in silence for a minute or two while Itachi and Kisame let the new information sink in, and Nightmare caught her breath. Alice just sat next to Itachi, a small smile on her face at the memory of that day.
