Too Haate or Too Love: Lotil's Story

The Big Day

Lotil woke to the dimmed sunlight shining through the shades of the bedroom window she slotted her pupils slightly but closed them again refusing to move from the warmth of the covers. She moved a bit and stopped feeling the presence of something else beside her, opening her eyes once more turning her head over to look over her shoulder she noticed Toffee still asleep and with his arms wrapped around the hybrid's waist. Lotil stared down at the lizard's chest seeing his ab structure as he breathed in and out his chest rising an falling, Lotil shook her head turning away blushing she attempted to slowly fidget out of his grip barely moving a finger Geez! This guy has some strength or I'm just really weak I don't know but still! I need like a crow bar or something she growled frustrated trying to move a little more to loosen his grip. Suddenly the grip on her tightened a little pulling her backwards surprising the hybrid, Toffee had woken up shortly after noticing Lotil struggling to get free he purposely kept hold her for a bit smiling.

The hybrid looked up at Toffee annoyed "Really? Is this necessary Toffee?" She glared up at him.

Toffee chuckled amused "Well why not? It's fun teasing you" giving a warm smile down at her.

Lotil huffed aloud pouting So you want to play that game huh? Well than let's play a playful smirk grew on the hybrid's face alarming Toffee. She looked up at him her eyes half slitted swaying her tail delightfully.

Toffee was confused at the sudden expression change on Lotil, he tensed up when he felt one her claws slide down his spine making him shudder his face turning pink. Lotil giggled "Tease me this way I tease you differently" she smirked letting her eyes catch his, the lizard was now blushing his grip had loosened on Lotil before realizing it the lizard wolf took the advantage and slid right through his arms. Now even more surprised he had been teased in return by Lotil who happily stood at his door way feeling successful.

"Lesson learned mess with me that way I'll return the favor but a bit more flirty" she purred "I'll seeya later Toffee, gotta day ahead of us."

As the hybrid left, Toffee sighed moving his own hand through his hair smiled "Heh, crazy hybrid."

Lotil had returned to her room to get changed and made way back downstairs towards the kitchen for a little breakfast. Heading down the hallway past Toffee's office before turning back over to it, curiosity had stained her mind she wanted to know so badly what Toffee had planned but she shook her head and continued towards the kitchen where Lotil had caught sight of the giraffe monster making what looked like bacon. The scent had captured her nostrils a scent so similar to what her mom had cooked before; going back when she was only 7 years old Lotil would be awoken by the lovely aroma of fresh bacon and eggs each morning made especially by Terra a great mother she was always made the greatest things it brought the hybrid back to when everything was still how it use to be but it never remained that way.
Lotil felt tears form in her pupils but wiped them away before anyone noticed. Walking beside the giraffe monster she leaned over his shoulder.

"Wow. This bacon smells great!" She announced startling him "Oh sorry! Didn't mean to startle you" Lotil apologized with a  smile.

The giraffe calmed himself and smiled back "Ah it's fine. Also thank you, I have fun cooking it's quite relaxing especially on a day like today" he flipped over a bit of bacon so the other side may turn a crispy brown.

Lotil's ear perked up "Your welcome and wait? What do you mean by that? Is something happening today?" The hybrid was questioning.

The giraffe looked at Lotil confused "Did Toffee not tell you? You must've missed the meeting yesterday in the dining room, we plan to retrieve the wand by first kidnapping the princess's closest friend. So today things might be a bit nerve wrecking for some of us but Toffee believes it'll all work out."

Once he had finished explaining Lotil's heart stopped "Wait? So you mean one of you guys are gonna lure the princess of Mewni HERE!? With powerful magic that can blast a limb off!" The hybrid had fear grip her hard, she not only hated Mewman magic but feared it. Memories of the day her mother had been killed by that same source of magic which was also the reason she only has one wing remaining.

The giraffe monster gave her a look "Well yes that's the point. How else are we gonna retrieve the wand, ask nicely?"

The hybrid thought about it for a moment "You have a point there. If you guys need some help with getting the friend of the princess I could be available" she offered trying to change the subject on the princess wand thing.

The giraffe gestured a hand at her in a side to side motion "Nah, we're good we've already gotten somebody taking care of it. But you could help Spikeballs drag in a large crystal cage for the hostage."

"Hm, sounds challenging. Sure, I'll do that thanks!" Lotil gave a farewell to the giraffe monster heading out of the kitchen in search for the monster named Spikeballs.

Searching around for him, she noticed Boo Fly carrying large stacks of pillows she raised an eyebrow unsure what they were needed for but decided not ask and continued on her search. After a good 15 minutes Lotil finally caught sight of two Monsters talking, one being Bearicorn a brownish bear with an obvious horn atop his head and a spiked ball handed monster who the hybrid assumed must be Spikeballs; making her way towards the two Monsters she approaches them getting their attention.

Lotil cleared her throat "Hello there. I'm sorry for interrupting I'm here looking for a Spikeballs and I was told he needed help dragging in some crystal cage?" The way she said it sounded really odd to her.

Bearicorn and Spikeballs look at each other than back to Lotil "Yes, I'm Spikeballs you must be the newbie around here. It's Lotil right?" Spikeballs asked before continuing.

The hybrid nodded.

"Alright making sure and yes I am needing a hand with carrying a crystal cage in here. Think you can lend a claw?" He asked.

"Of course!" Lotil responded confident.

Without another word, both Monsters headed outside where a large crystal cage sat still on the ground. Lotil was awed at the sight of it quite fascinated with how it's structured.

"Wow. This is some gnarly cage for a prisoner, pretty fancy" she knocked on the framing of it gently feeling how thick the crystal really was "Pretty hard core too."

Spikeballs nodded in agreement "Yep, this crystal is unbreakable even magic couldn't shatter it. This is why Toffee wanted a more indestructible cage" he exclaimed walking too Lotil's side "Welp let's get this thing into the dining room area before sun down."

"Right" Lotil replied.

Both Monsters than went to each side of the hardened cage, Lotil using her back as support took the front side of the cage with Spikeballs in the back. With one huge heave of all the strength they had the cage was lifted off the ground and slow and steady the Monsters paced over to the front doorway trying to keep a good hold on the cage they managed to make it inside; slow and steady, Lotil was losing her grip hold but tensed up her muscles and kept moving forward with Spikeballs having to use his arms as a support he too had used as much of his strength carrying the cage. Finally after back breaking labor they made it to the dining room setting it distant beside the long table, Lotil stuck out her chest forward into a lunge curving her spine hearing a crack than a pop she sighed relieved Spikeballs sweating got himself a glass of water.

"Nice job helping me carry this cage inside" Spikeballs finally spoke breathing from exhaustion.

Lotil smiled stretching out her arms and legs "It was no problem Spikeballs" she soon spread out her single wing to stretch it.

Spikeballs smiled "Well I'll seeya later at the meeting, Lotil" he waved heading back down the hall.

Lotil waved as well "Alright you too" she shouted back watching him leave.

Spending her time alone in the dining room, Lotil noticed how only a single chair was placed at the end of the table. Curiously she walked over to the chair examining it letting her touchy claws feel the soft wood the hybrid checked around her to be sure nobody else was around and sat down in the chair and looked onwards in front of her. Lotil got too see just how long the table was just sitting in this throne like masterpiece But, if this is a table? Where are the other chairs?" Her thoughts wanted an answer but she decided not to question it threw the thought away just remained sitting in the chair comfortably.
She eventually stood up from the chair and glanced around the room, Lotil began looking over the crystal cage again remembering it's purpose in Toffee's plan.
Fear had shaken Lotil at the thought of the princess of Mewni coming here just so Toffee may retrieve the wand. What was the purpose in getting such magic in his claws? What were his intentions? Is he going to use the magic against Mewni? So many questions she wanted an answer too but just couldn't figure them out.

Lotil was wrapped up in her mind when the sudden sound of multiple footsteps entered the room. She broke out of thought to find the Monsters grouping up into the dining room, the hybrid watched them pretty sure what was going on saw two Monsters walk in carrying something with them was what looked like a human being or earthling some would call it being dragged over to the crystal cage when a door opened than shut once the human had been strapped to a chair with a desk beside him. Lotil raised both eyebrows at the sight of the earthling struggling to get out of his strap hold but grew bored of him after sometime when someone else had finally entered the room the hybrid turned her attention towards them, it was Toffee making his way into the area came over to the crystal cage looking down at the human. The hybrid took a step back giving the lizard his space.

"Hey! Let me out of here!" The human demanded.

Toffee just gave a look like he didn't really care "Sorry to say Marco but that won't be happening for a while" he turned away from Marco.

Marco growled struggling "Well I know I'll get free anyway! I'll kick you're but right now if I wasn't in these restraints" he shouted.

Toffee rolled his eyes and just sat down in the seat, Lotil glared at Marco "It be better if you shut your mouth before I do it for you buddy boy."

Marco glared "Uh huh, I'd like to see try. You Monsters are all just freaks" he remarked.

The hybrid clutched her fist "Freaks?? We are not freaks you and you're species are the freaks you don't know anything about who we are or where we come from so be better off if you just shut up" Lotil hissed between her teeth.

Marco didn't seem moved "Whatever" he rolled his eyes.

Lotil huffed now annoyed just walked away from the cage too stand beside Toffee who had been watching the whole thing gave her a 'ignore him he's not worth it' look. The hybrid understood and just stood there in silence noticing Boo Fly show up through the entrance flying towards Toffee with a sandwich in hand setting it lightly on the table in front of him. Lotil was wondering what the sandwich was for, Toffee planned to sit down in the chair when Boo Fly returned with the tower of pillows.

"What did I say about the pillows? I don't need them, I'm an adult" Toffee crossed his arms disapproving. Boo Fly flew off.

Toffee than sat down in his chair when Boo Fly returned with the pillows the lizard gave him a warning glare "No!" He said this time finally getting the fly monster to move on.

Lotil scowled at Marco the whole time watching him move around in his chair "Okay, you got me here. What do you want with me?" The boy asked.

Toffee looked over at him his expression motionless "What?" He seemed to question.

"Tell him what you're gonna do to him. Wait'll you hear this" Boo Fly appeared sitting on the top of the chair laughing.

Toffee shook him off "Um, do you mind?" He said shaking the chair a bit once Boo Fly finally flew off angry.

Toffee stood up from his chair, removing his black jacket and placing it on a racket while Marco spoke to him.

"Look, if you're after the wand, it's harder to get than you think. Lots of people have tried" he announced.

Lotil watched as Toffee picked up the sandwich on the plate and walked over to the cage opening it up the entrance where Marco sat in the chair glaring.

"Eat something, could be you're last meal" Toffee set the plate down on the table.

Marco scowled "Actually, I'm totally full. But if you're hungry, I'm a great cook. So why don't you let me out of this chair and I'll give you a taste?" He sounded threatening.

Toffee was unmoved by it "Okay" he says freeing the boy from the chair.

Marco attempts to punch Toffee but instead hits the reflection of him injuring his hand on the crystal "Ow! There's two of you?" He seemed to ask looking behind him where Toffee now stood.

Toffee, with his arms crossed, moves Marco back into his chair with his own tail than pushes the sandwich over to him "You really should eat" the lizard suggested.

"I don't want your stinking sandwich!" Marco angered shoves the sandwich away but gets the toothpick stuck in his hand resulting in minor pain.

Toffee shakes his head "You're a disappointment" he sounded as if he were expecting more from Marco soon turned away from him and closed the crystal door.

Marco responded with a rude tone "Yeah? Well, you're boring. And you dress like a lawyer. At least that idiot came dressed for a good time" he pointed over to Beard Deer who felt insulted at Marco's comment, intended to punch him but instead hit the crystal injuring his hand.
"I feel your pain" he said to Beard Deer.

Lotil was getting more and more irritated at this Marco kid, just grunted once Toffee returned to his seat seemingly chill about the whole thing. The hybrid looked down at him.

"So Toffee if you succeed at getting the wand. What exactly do you plan to do with it?" She asked him.

Toffee looked up at her "I don't intend to do anything with it but have it destroyed by are soon to be special guest" he started to say.

Lotil tensed already knowing who this 'special guest' was "Destroyed? How exactly?"

Toffee gave a smile "You'll soon see Lotil. But I must tell you something, as soon as the wand is destroyed I need you to run away from this place at once" he sounded serious.

Lotil was confused "Run away? Why? Is something bad going to happen?" She asked feeling concerned.

The lizard nodded "Yes, something dangerous will happen and I don't want you're life put in harm's way. This is something I have to face alone" he looked away for a moment.

The hybrid felt a pain in her heart stop "Toffee! No whatever you are planning to do I don't...I don't want you to get killed. Immortal or not! I don't want to leave you alone if something like that happens I want to be with you, Toffee I'm afraid I might lose you" Lotil sounded upset and highly worried tears formed in her eyes.

Toffee stood up to face Lotil putting both his hands on her face "Hey, don't be crying especially here" he wiped a single tear away from her face with his thumb claw "Listen Lotil, I promise you it'll all work out in the end. It may be risky but this has be done or my plans won't be complete, do you trust me on what I'm saying?" His eyes embedded into hers trying to be reassuring.

Lotil looked at him for a moment and nodded "Yes, I trust you Toffee."

The lizard smiled leaning in close to place his head on hers "Good, now let me see that lovely smile of yours" he leaned down too look at the hybrid who kept her expression in a frown. "Come on don't be like that" Toffee gave a grin to Lotil  in a way encourage her.

The hybrid giggled and finally grinned back "There happy?"

Toffee kissed her forehead making the hybrid turn a slight pink looking at her "Very. Let's get ready for our guest now okay?" He sat back down in his chair unaware other Monsters were watching the two of them the whole time.

Lotil sighed smiling "Yes, let's" she agreed returning to her proper position beside him.

A few minutes passed everyone has been talking for a good while when out of the blue someone burst into the room turning three of the guards into tiny Chibis than blasting at a couple other Monsters. Lotil immediately froze terrified catching sight of the princess holding her wand firmly in hand.

"You made it" Toffee spoke to her but got knocked backwards out of his chair from being hit by magic.

Lotil jumped startled "Toffee are you okay?" She asked but not paying attention was blasted to the floor.

Her head began aching from hitting the hard surface felt the burn mark on her arm which luckily would heal in time stood up and grasped onto the table staying low watched as the princess fought up against the other Monster. In addition with help from Buff Frog (whom she had spoken to before) noticed him wearing a large fountain on his back carrying what looked like baby tadpoles.
Lotil hated this entire thing already looked over her shoulder to see Toffee just laying there his right arm missing with an expression that she has not seen before made her wonder why but decided not to ask and watch as the fight continued. What would happen next would surely blow anyone's mind.
