Still in the library~
Draco hummed softly to himself, closing the book and putting it away. He took his time, examining the books on the shelves he passed and running his knuckles along their spines on his way out of the library. He paused when he saw Hermione curled up at a small table, surrounded by books. He walked up to her, smiling shyly. "You know, that book is good, but there's a much more concise and informative by Barnes. The one you're reading doesn't even cover the ethical implications of magical genetic manipulation on the Muggle populace."
She jumped, nearly dropping the book. Her lips curled into a snarl, and her eyes opened wide in surprise - at his words and at his hair. She floundered for words for a few moments before managing, "Why do you care?"
He shrugs. "I mean, I don't care a lot. But it's not like I've got a reason to not tell you that, right? It's helpful. It's cool. It's friendly."
"You have never been friendly to me."
He grimaces. "I know. And I'm sorry about that. I was an ass."
"No kidding."
"Yeah. It was wrong of me, no excuses. It will never happen again."
She blinked, her brows furrowing. "... Um. Okay."
He smiled, nodded, and walked away.
