Eternity Zero

Eternity Zero

Here's a story Wrote for an English project. The paragraphing and indents are kind of inconsistent, with the copy and pasting on Qfeast, and it wasn't originally in chapters, so they're kind of short. But my teacher liked it, sooo...enjoy!

CHapter 7

“Magic works in strange ways,” said Iobar. “SInce the dawn of power, nothing in the veiled world has really been…constant. Just like the real world, regimes rise and fall, new ways of doing things are discovered, and everything changes. Nothing has been consistent, except for one thing: the aeternus. They are the only true immortals. Immortali. Every millenia, someone is born. They come as babies from Yggdrasil, the Life Tree, born from its roots. The pixies gather them up, then take them to some nursery, or orphanage, hoping it’s nice.
“The child is left for twelve years, learning, living, until, on their twelfth birthday, they change. They become one of the objects of myth. The holy grail, Fraja’s apples, the philosopher’s stone, they were all aeturnus. Objects with the power of eternal life. They were all people, watched over by by Eaden and Aeden.”
“That was overcomplicated,” drawled Eaden, “That should be your name.”
Kai was confused. “Uhhhhhh...what does this have to do with me?”
Eaden rolled his eyes. “Clue number one, you’re almost twelve, clue number two, we’re allowing you to see us...Are you just pretending to be stupid?”
“Now, now,” said his twin, “Maybe we shouldn’t-”
“What? Shouldn’t what? He’s only a host! The outer shell!”
“Shut up!” said a very annoyed Iobar, “Just, shut, up.”
        They shut up.
“All right,“ he continued, starting off with something that confused kai even more. He knew his name. “Killian, you are one of the  aeternus. Eaden and Aeden are here to protect you.”
“Usually, “ said Eaden, “We would just watch over you while you sleep, but this time is different.”
Killian was dumbfounded. Couldn't they slow down just the tiniest bit? “Enlighten me.” he said, with a nonchalance he did not feel.
“You,” said Iobar gravely, “Killian Aeternalis, are the last of the aeternus.”
