Chapter 5

        Silent.
        Quick.
        Nimble.
        Kai had no doubt he could get past them. No-one human could hear him. He was invisible. He liked these moments, when people couldn’t see you even if they tried. His feet padded stone over stone, never stumbling, never erring. He was free. He was alive. No one else was here.
        No one human.
        “Oh look,” came a silky smooth voice from behind him. “It’s the little god.”
        What was it? Where was it? It was nowhere, but all around him at the same time. There was nothing there.
        “You think yourself a god? Ha!” suddenly, in a flash of white, the prince appeared, along with his cook.
        The prince and the cook. Sounds like a book. Kai was in shock.
        “Look at me!” he screamed, appearing in front of Killian, putting his hand around his throat. “I am a god! I am above you!” Just as suddenly, he was calm. “Oh, Albert. I believe your cutpurse was trying to get away. So sad. What shall we do?”
        “Perhaps you should let him go.” said a new voice, coming from what seemed to be the roof of the next building over the alley.
        “Ah” said the prince, “You’ve finally come. At last. I smell… magic.”
        His friend simply drooled.        
        There was a flash of white, then nothing.
