        Kai’s first thought was completely devoid of emotion; Well, I’m screwed. Then his brain kicked in.
        Were they talking about him? Who were they? When’s “when”? Was Albert working with them? Why were they glowing? Who were they? Who were they?
        His head was in turmoil. Sure, Al’s never been nice to him, but they wanted to kill him. His head was exploding. He didn’t want to be one of the bodies floating in the thames, which washed up every other Monday. He needed to run away.
        He was amazed. Not amazed at the fact that he had thought of it, but amazed that he hadn’t thought of it two years ago, or better yet, in the orphanage. All he had to do was pack his bags and run when Al wasn’t looking. which was a lot. Had he been afraid all this time? Or was he just stupid? It was so simple, it was foolproof. Anyway, he didn’t have time for second thoughts. He took a knapsack, filled it with a few coins, blankets, and food, not forgetting his bowler, and started off.
