Bouncing's New-found Reputation
Bouncing claw wasn't sure why she went through with the naming ceremony. She didn't really like the leader's attitude. But at least now she would get some respect from the younger apprentices.Sprinting paw had seemed excited enough for both herself and Bouncing claw. Which was good since Bouncing was not at all excited.
"Isn't it great Bouncing," said Sprinting paw cheerfully. "They finally realized your potential."
"Thanks Paw, but I don't really care what the clan thinks," replied Bouncing claw. "Still they won't ever really be my clan. I won't ever be like the rest."
"Of course you won't. You'll be better than them, and they'll have to avert their eyes from your brilliant light."
"They are too blind already to see any true brilliance."
"Spirit guider can see what's there."
"No, he simply feels sorry for me, like all those old rabbit brains they call elders. There isn't anything for that blind bat to see here, and even you know that."
Sprinting paw looked at her paws with a dark expression. Then she almost started to say something, but she cut herself off. She shook her head and then returned to her medicine cat duties, to help her mentor.
After she left young apprentices started gathering around Bouncing claw asking questions and listening to answers. There was nothing useful to Bouncing claw in all of this. She still wasn't sure she could ever learn to live like this clan, even with their respect.
