Chapter three
Dawnpaw shivered as the wind blow her long pelt around it was becoming quite frustrating to even move in this weather, she had just exited the hollow easily for no cat was watching. Mud fiercely dragged her paws deep into to the ground as she walked across the foggy Thunder clan territory, she tried running but the wind swept up her paws and she was flying. Shrieking for help Dawnpaw cried as she failed to regain her footing sleet had started to come down and her meow was lost in the wind.
Finally the wind ruthlessly dropped her on the ground and Dawnpaw found herself on the open moor of Wind clan, the storm had become blinding and she had no shelter. Tugging forward Dawnpaw tried to regain her strength and hope, but so very faintly she could smell the lake. It took awhile, mostly because of how clumsy the storm had made Dawnpaw. With a gasp of surprise she fell into the shallows of the lake and the lake not shockingly wasn't any warmer than land, but at least she was closer to her territory. Dawnpaw pushed her nose delicately on the ground searching for any familiar smell and luckily she quickly found one, it was next to her.
Suddenly the storm dialed down just enough to make out a cat's silhouette the cat seemed to have made out her shape too, and it was barreling toward her. Even though Dawnpaw was uncertain about if this cat was from Thunder clan, she barreled to the cat too. When she hit the cat she gasped at the warmth coming off the what she thought was a tom, she settled next to him pushing against each other for warmth. The tom yelled something close to the ear, "Ivypaw, are you ok?". Dawnpaw blinked in bafflement, "Ivypaw? I'm not Ivypaw". The tom seemed to freeze as he realized he was not with his apprentice, "Who are you?". "Well you're certainly not Mudstorm" Dawnpaw mumbled but than added, "Dawnpaw, Dawnpaw of Thunder clan". "Dawnpaw!" the tom pushed closer to her obviously happy, "It's Scorchpool of Shadow clan". She gasped with happiness and buried her nose into the familiar scent of Shadow clan herbs, and like magic the storm started to die down.
The sun's warm glares made Dawnpaw breathe a sigh of relief and as clouds parted the howling wind died to a slight breeze. After a few moments of utter silence she turned her head to look at Scorchpool who was looking at her, her body wanted to drop down and laugh like crazy. Scorchpool was covered in mud from paw to belly leaves and twigs stuck awkwardly out, he looked small with a drenched coat but his calm blue eyes shown with deep meaning. "Don't look at like that, you look just as bad" Scorchpool meowed jokingly. Dawnpaw couldn't disagree she probably looked as bad as she felt, "wow that was one storm". She felt herself grow warm as she realized how pitiful sentence most sound, but Scorchpool only looked at her warmly.
Dawnpaw couldn't bear his blue eyes so she looked around and noticed that what she thought was the lake was a ditch filled with water, and she was shadowed in some pine trees some laying sideways on the ground. The area around her was swampy and brambles were everywhere, she sneaked a glance at Scorchpool who seemed more sure of his surrounds. "Welcome to Shadow clan territory, it's not much after the storm though" Scorchpool bit his lip, "I think we should head for camp, we're near enough to make it before night settles". Dawnpaw stared dead surprised, "No, no I need to head back to Thunder clan. The storm probably injured some cats and Stonewatcher will be worried". "Look at yourself Dawnpaw you are barely fit for traveling and it's already almost sundown, you won't make it in time to help any cat in your clan" Scorchpool's blue eyes shone with worry for her, "please, just a night". Dawnpaw weighed her options, on one hand she felt tired and sick and staying in Shadow clan would give her a chance to rest, while traveling to Thunder clan would settle any cats worries and she help heal her clan but she would not be able to get a blink of sleep for awhile. "Ok, fine but just a night" Dawnpaw nodded, "Will Shadestar be okay with it?". "I'm his medicine cat, I don't think he has choice whether not he's ok with it" Scorchpool laughed half heartily.
And with that the two cats headed down a worn down path tail and tail.
