Back for More
It had been two weeks since your meeting with Slender. You hated how you couldn't stop thinking about him. How every time you were drawing, you found yourself flipping the pages back to his note. It was all just so puzzling. Why did he spare you?Once you had got home the night you had grabbed your laptop and read everything you could find on him. It said that typically anyone who even caught a glimpse of him turned up dead. Much less, you had even talked to him! For the past couple weeks you had been living in fear that he would come back to finish the job. You had even bought a nightlight because you were too afraid to be in the pure darkness.
"That's it!" you exclaimed to yourself in the mirror, "Today's the day! I can't keep living like this."
"Like what?" asked a voice at the window. You turned to see your neighbor, Tony. He was wearing a wide smile on his face and his eyes were full of mischief. He was sitting casually on the window sill as if he had been invited.
"I told you to stop sneaking in like that! It's creepy!" you giggled at the end.
"It's not creepy if you like it." He said showing off his white teeth.
"How do you know I like it?" you questioned him raising an eyebrow.
"Cause you smile every time I do." he smirked as you blushed. He burst into laughter grabbing his sides.
"Shut up!" you giggled and pushed him playfully. He gasped and fell backward from the window. "Tony!" you shrieked and ran to the window.
"Gotchya!" he exclaimed laughing as he dangled from a tree branch below the window.
"Oh, get outta here!" you laughed as you shut the window. Tony always had a way to make you smile. You were in such a good mood you even started to hum as you backed your bag. You went over your mental list; water, flashlight, batteries, sketchbook, and your favorite book, The Mortal Instruments. You had your IPod and art utensils in your pockets like normal. "Ok, I'm ready." you said aloud.
You walked down the stairs to the front door, snagging an apple from the bowl on the way. You walked down the street Spotting Tony and his friends in the distance. He was skateboarding down the sidewalk. You waved to him as you passed by and in response he did an awesome kickflip. You couldn't help but applaud. Then all his friends made an "Ooooo!" sound and several even made kissing noises. You lowered your head blushing and putting your headphones in. You scrolled through you playlists and clicked on "classic rock."
You reached the edge of the forest as the song "American Idiot" by Green Day popped on.
"That's what I am." you murmured to yourself. Most people wouldn't even consider looking at these woods again, much less go into them. You couldn't figure out why, but you had to go back. If curiosity killed the cat, then you were probably about to die. You shrugged, "Who's gonna miss me anyway?" you asked yourself out loud. "Tony." said a voice in the back of your mind. "Shut up brain!" you thought. "Meh!" you made your brain say back.
"I'm crazy, absolutely f**king crazy." you murmured to yourself. You took a deep breath and walked into the forest. Just then, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day turned on. "Why do these songs keep describing my situations?" you thought "No static though, that's good right?" You spotted a huge oak and decided it would be better if you sat in the shade, didn't want another sunburn.
You leaned up against the tree and pulled your book from the bag. You opened it to chapter 16 where you had left off and began to read. You shifted uncomfortable unable to shake the feeling that you were being watched. You turned to lay on the grass on your back holding the book high in front of your face. You grabbed your IPod and changed it to something more soothing. After about an hour and a half of reading you finally put the book down.
You sighed and checked the time, 3:45 pm. You felt as if you would fall asleep if you just kept laying here.
You sat up and pulled out your headphones, it was nice to just hear the nature around you. You grabbed the apple from your bag and took a bite, savoring how juicy it was.
"You know, listening to you read was quiet enjoyable." you heard the silky voice behind you causing you to jump. You watched the apple roll on the ground at your feet.
"Aw, I dropped my apple..." you moped forgetting about the voice and thinking about your tummy.
"I'm sorry child." Hearing the voice again snapped you out of your trance. You froze in fear not wanting to turn around. Instead you stared at the ants that were beginning to gather around your apple.
"How did you listen to me read? I didn't read aloud." you asked in a shaky voice.
"I have the power of telekinesis." said a voice in your mind. You yelped and grabbed your head in instinct. "There's nothing to be afraid of." Echoed the voice again. "Have you been reading my mind this entire time?" you thought.
"Yes." he admitted aloud, "It was a bit like watching a movie. You have quiet the imagination."
You turned slowly to see him standing next to the tree. He disappeared, making you jump once more. "This guy's is going to give me a heart attack!" you thought heaving a sigh. In a flash he was back again, but now he was rubbing something on his suit. He outstretched his hand to reveal a shiny red apple.
You gave a happy grin as you accepted the apple from his cold fingers. "Thank you." you said sweetly without a quiver to your voice.
