Realising Love

Thank God Jackie's alive! I don't know what I would do if she died. She means a lot to me.
I decide to check on her in the living room. Sapphire and Alexis run upstairs just as I come in.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine now," Jackie says.
"I thought you died though," I say. "You looked like you were."
"I was. For a minute." She looks down at the ground, and I wrap my arm around her back. "And I saw my father. He told me to come back here. To be happy."
"Well, if you're happy, then I'm happy."
She looks up at me and smiles before inching closer to me.
"I didn't leave you worried did I?"
"No," I say. "I knew you would come back. Even if it took you a whole week."
She pulls me closer, so I lean in for a kiss. And for a few minutes, we block everything else out. There's only her and me. Nothing else matters.
When we pull back, she rests her head on my shoulder. "I love you, Sonic."
I brush my fingers through her hair and gently whisper, "I love you too, Jackie."

Tails has everyone gathered in the living room. It might be because he's found the next Emerald. Who knows?
"I can bet you all have noticed a strange laptop in the dining room," he says. "I've been using it to find everyone's secret lover."
Secret lover? Now everyone's gonna find out that Jackie and I might be getting together!
"All I'm missing is a blood sample from you, Jackie." He now holds an empty syringe and carefully inserts it into Jackie's neck. I see her blood flowing into it. It must hurt for her.
When Tails finally finishes examining Jackie's blood sample, we all wait at either of two walls at each end. Girls are on one wall, boys at the wall opposite. As I wait, I manage to see the results on the screen.

My eyes meet with Jackie's and I wink at her. She winks back, giggling and blushing.
Guess the odds of us two getting together are in our favour.
