Cultural Festival
The long awaited festival arrived! It was a day when girls and boys had access to every building, department and classes! Stalls were put up to sell food, drinks, and materials. The cultural festival was one of the main festival collecting lots of funds for the academy and it was open to various neighboring schools. Students organized activities and games and the famous last activity was the Great dance around the fire lit at the centre of the school grounds. There would even be fireworks! It is also a traditional event among students to confess to their crush! I was the last person concerned because I was never interested in confessing feelings and only planned to look from afar! I was not bothered by things like confessions because I knew Sei never looked at me romantically; it was a one-sided love and was meant to remain like this! The building was deserted, laughter echoed from the school grounds but the classrooms were empty and lifeless and only my footsteps echoed! From the window I could see everyone dancing and playing. It was so isolated here that I quickly left the things and wanted to get out of immediately. But I was still and silent now! I had heard footsteps coming from the corridor. No one was supposed to be here, perhaps my friends had come look for me! The footsteps got closer and I naively called out “Who’s there? Rika, Evelyn, girls??”
The footsteps stopped and it was silence everywhere! CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. The lights had turned off in the corridor and I could see a shadow moving slowly. There was light in the classroom I was, the silence and darkness scared me to death cause I knew someone was playing a bad prank on me! The footsteps were heard again, not too far now, very near, nearing and next to the door! They were louder, quicker and scarier and my heart skipped a beat! I ran to the door to lock it but it was too late, the shadow had already held the handle and briskly opened the door! A tall figure emerged from the darkness and I stared at the person in front of me…
