Told You...
Emily, for the first time in her life, was lost for words. She made a bunch of sounds that sounded like she was trying to make a word, but it just want working.Harry leaned close to me and whispered in my ear, "Is she alright?"
"She will be," I gestured for him to take the seat next to me. He did, nudging his thigh on mine.
Emily just sat there, mouth wide open.
Harry looked amused, like he was trying to keep from laughing.
Emily finally took a big sip of her drink. When she lowered it, she seemed more composed. "Hi," she finally let out.
I bit my lip to keep from laughing.
"Hello," Harry said.
Emily took a deep breath. "So. Laura was telling the truth."
I shrugged. "Told you."
Harry raised an eyebrow. I would tell him later.
"I'm Emily, by the way," She stuck her hand out.
Harry shook it, and Emily looked like she was going to explode.
Harry extended his arms so they rested on the top of the booth. He glanced over at me, smiled, and asked if I was alright.
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Did Jack try to contact you again?"
"It's Jake, and I'm ignoring him," I played with the lid on my cup.
"Good, I didn't like Josh anyway," he said seriously.
I rolled my eyes. He was so stupid.
Emily cleared her throat, obviously feeling left out.
"So, Emily, how long have you and Laura been friends?" Harry asked.
Emily blushed. "Oh, since third grade. We had to sit at a table with Matthew Pick and he was a complete ass. So, me and Laura bonded by beating him up one day at recess."
I laughed at Harry's reaction. He raised his eyebrows as looked at me with a bewildered look. "Did you really?"
Me and Emily nodded. I laughed. "Emily held him down, and I kicked him where it hurts."
"Needless to say, he didnt mess with us anymore," Emily smiled.
"Should I be worried about hanging out with you two?" Harry asked, moving away from me playfully.
"I would never beat you up," I told him. "Think of how much bad publicity I would get."
Harry laughed, moving closer to me again.
I met Harry's gaze again, feeling my cheeks warm up.
Emily glanced at we watch and cursed. "I have to go, I'll talk to you later, Laura. And, I guess I'll see you around, Harry," Emily gave us both a smile and slipped out.
Harry nudged me. "Do you want to go out later?"
I nodded enthusiastically.
"Wear something nice," he whispered, his lips close to my ear. "I'll pick you up around 7." He pecked my cheek, then left.
I couldn't wait.
